| Been awhile and have questions!! It has been awhile since i have been on here after my yorkie Poo died, but have a question with my girl Holly!! She is 10 1/2 months old and she is having her first heat, just today we noticed her bleeding and being swollen. She is about 6 to 6 1/2 pounds. My question is when should I be really careful to watch about her getting prego? We used to breed Boxers, but of course they are different, with size and all. I have a stud lined up for her when I feel she is ready, I think I may skip this one, btw, the male is 5 to 5 1/2 pounds. Anything anyone could tell me I would appreciate it. The vet said she would be ok breeding because her size and his size is good, and she is in good health. Here are a couple recent pics of her too.

| Going to bump this up and wonder if it would be better to breed her a bit older?

| rule of thumb is .... 2nd heat (never first heat) or at least 18 months old

Also, please know that there is alot more that should be considered with breeding than just size (especially weight alone) and 'good health.' I would recommend finding a well-seasoned and respected breeder in your area to guide you in the meantime. Nothing bad ever came from being well informed about the process. | |

| I agree they have to be atleast one year old before you breed, so they can handle the mothering thing.
