| First off, I've been up all night so I may sound a little nuts, sorry. So I took Lacey to the emergency clinic last night because she would just not progress her labor any further. They did a blood test for calcium and glucose to see if she could have the oxy shot, if the test was not good they would need to c-section. Took x=rays also to see what position the pups were in. We saw one tiny boy coming first and a big girl last. So during all of this they had 2 critical emergencies come in and we were kind of put on the back burner. Lacey was soooo exhausted from panting and shaking all day. I watched a sobbing family leave when their dog did not make it. Horrible feeling. I started to fear for Lacey and was pissed at myself for not taking her in sooner when I had "that gut feeling" I let my stupid husband talk me out of it earlier during the day. So they finally got around to doing the shot, she delivered within 30 minutes and did excellent. The little girl weighed 5 7/8 oz. and the boy was 2 oz. So we finally get home at 2:30 am and Lacey is actually acting fiscious towards me and not showing interest in the boy. I got the boy out of the crate and put him in a warm box and have been supplimenting all night. I put him on Tinky my lactating Yorkie and he shows no interest in latching on. He is so weak. I don't think the prognosis is good at all for him. So to those of you that want to breed and think it is a breeze, you are saddly mistaken. there are so many heartbreaks, yes there is some joy, but ask yourself can you be in an er fearing for your little girls life and stay up all night dropping milk suppliments in a 2 oz. babies mouth watching him get weaker and weaker? Sorry to go on, we're all pretty tired here. I'm thanking God for my Lacey and her little girl right now. Thankyou for your nice posts they have been very much appreciated. YT IS the best. |

| I'll be praying the little guy makes it. Did you check for a cleft pallet? I've decided not to breed Penny, because of that exact reason. I couldn't bare losing her, or any of the pups, and it seems to happen all the time.

| There was no cleft pallet. I put him back in with Lace and she just cuddles up to the girl and leaves him out in the cold. It's like she knows something we don't. This is so frustrating. I've had to supplement other puppies in the past and they at least tried to eat but this little guy won't even try. I can tell Tinky would love to take him but no way can I put him in with the bigger puppies. I'm going to continue to see if he will nurse on Tink. |
