To be quite honest, I really don't plan to lose any sleep over it. If and when the standard of Yorkies change to include other color variations, I know that it will be the result of many years of hard work, dedication, documentation, etc by truly dedicated, honest, ethical breeders--people who go about achieving that goal in the proper, respectable manner. Until that day in time comes, I'm not going overly concern myself with it. There is little I can do to change those not fitting that description. All I can do is state my opinion (which I have already done here) and move on (which I intend to do after this post.) And in saying that, I am in no way trying to include or disclude anyone into that category (or any category) of breeders. Just making a general statement to express my feelings. Take it, discuss it and interpret it as you will.:) Moving on... |
chocolate I have looked at your web-site. None of the dogs I saw were anywhere near show quality, let alone breeder quality. I guess, in person, they are all within the standard of the breed.?? I dont see how you are improving the breed when you continue to breed to your own standard and not the AKC, UKC, or even the CanidianKC standards. Yes, they are all very cute(except, personally I think Chocs are ugly), so it must be that you only breed for monetary purposes. Over the years of breeding, have you made any improvements toward the AKC standard? Or have they just gotten "better" to your standard? Have you had any of them evaluated by an AkC judge or a YTCA member? Or is it "AKC and YTCA be damned, they know nothing after 100 plus years". But, as long as that 2500 and 3500 keeps rolling in, you will keep breeding only for the current trend and not make any improvements toward the standard. |

I have several friends that have tiny yorkies (3lbs). I love the tiny ones myself too, but I would never buy from a breeder that intentionally breeds them by breeding a tiny mother and father together. I guess I just get tired of people breeding just because they can and only to make money. Yorkies are so overbred now and most are so far from standard that most people don't even know what a yorkie should look like anymore. I love all yorkies and they all deserve a good home, but most should not be bred. It just makes me sad to see dogs bred just for money, and its even worse when the breeder tells themselves that they are improving the breed when they are really hurting it |

hostile?? I dont think most of us are coming off hostile. I, and I am sure the other "hostiles", just love this breed and are just stating the facts about breeding to the standard. Most show breeders are very passionate about the standard agree that its being "ruined" by all the back yard breeders. And the byb comment is not being used in a bad way. ie, all of you, I hope, are not puppy mills, just not show breeders. So, if all the byb'ers dont want to breed to the AKC standard, dont expect the responsible breedrs to cut you any slack. And to the person who said something to the effect that all the "hostiles" didnt breed, show, only had secondhand things to say and had nothing pedigrees, I beg to differ. I dont consider one or two champions in the 3rd and 4th generation of a pedigree something to shout about. To the person with the web-site: I think your web-site is nice. Too bad we will never agree on the dogs. |

I personally don't agree with her prices and I have told her so but she isn't doing what other breeders (show or non-show) are doing. They are capitalizing on the market. I hate the fact but there are people out there that will ask for such exhorbitant prices but there are people that can spend that kind of money and see no issues with doing so. I would never breed such small dogs or dogs in general myself because that is not my thing or area of expertise but she is not the only one doing it. |
Go to the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's website and see what they say about breeding the tines....exactly what alot of others have said including me on this thread. |
