YorkieRose, I have respected you and your vast knowledge most every time a controversy has came up and granted, I have not read a great deal of your posts. That said, I have seen many times that you have correctly advised YT users in matters of delivery, breeding, nutrition etc.

I guarantee you that AKC has not lost a single penny of revenue in regards to registering my dogs and puppies. When DNA started and litter ap prices raised, I stuck with AKC and intend to do just that.

I hope that in time you will come to respect the Chocolates, Parti's etc. And that they will all be excellent quality Yorkies.

I think you misunderstood her post. She said that by NOT registering these type litters--or any that do not fit the accepted standard, THEN the AKC would lose money....because there are so many of them popping up these days. If they only accepted and registered those that did meet the standard and refuse those that don't, then yes, they would be losing TONS of money.

I was hoping you would post and that very $$ thing is always on my mind with the AKC.....geeez they are even so low on funds NOT lol they are talking about allowing non-purebreeds to show????? I do admire the Biewer people and I have a question. Can they be registered in the German registry and AKC?? I suppose so.

yes, they sent a questionaire to breeders and dog fanciers a few months ago about letting mixed breeds participate in AKC things. I never did hear the end result tho. I filled out two of them. One for me and one for the hubby's beagles.

Unless I am mistaken, Biewers cannot be registered with the AKC...yet. I know that they can be reg w/ the parent German club and there are several other breed clubs here i nthe US, each with their own set of guidelines, but all with the same overall goal, which is have them accepted in the US too.

This is a tricky area and you are going to get very passionated responses. When a person is dedicated to the betterment of a breed, they want the rules to apply as set forth in the standard. Why mess with perfection...?

We do not make a better Yorkie by changing the color, making it oversized, undersized, mixing it with a poodle or a Chi etc..the only way to make a better Yorkie is to breed by standard guidelines...the only reason to breed is to improve..and no one can say they are improving by producing incorrect colors or mixes...harsh, blunt, but this is how we think.

I would respect non-standard breeders more if they were honest and said they did not consider the standard important, are only interested in breeding pets as a hobby and profit. BUT please do not tell me you have the best interest of the breed at heart..just be honest. I love all dogs, what color they are or quality is not something they are responsible for creating..the dog is respected.

"betterment of the breed". Gosh, I have never used those exact words, but I have strived all these years for better quality Yorkies. I must have done something right. Show? No never have. Have friends who do. I don't think I will be able to change the Yorkie world with my one pair of Chocolate Yorkies. I do see some very innovative ideas across the www for different color choices. I guess I always have wanted to produce a better quality of Yorkies that would be the smiles on faces for years. Basically, what I saw the GP wanted when they would call me. And I do see a trend, and I am sure you all see it too.

Better quality yorkies...that are coming from tinies and you're not breeding to anyone's standards but your own.

Says who? Those that have bought from you? Of course everyone loves their yorkie..but that doesn't mean they were well-bred. Have you had your yorkies evaluated by anyone knowledgeable of the standard? A show breeder, a judge??? Maybe you've improved your own lines, but I'd hardly say you're bettering the breed.

Why do you people keep beating this "dead horse"? There are going to be Chocolate Yorkies and I intend to breed my pair. You people just need to get with the program. The Yorkie "lap dog" trend has not died over the years, and the Chocolate and Parti yorkie trend is not going to die either. It is proliferating as we speak!

And you say that the tinies are no one standard but my own? Where have you been keeping yourself? Oh, I forgot "everything is BIG in Texas"!

I think it is safe to say again that show breeders and show judges are not the only people knowledgeable of the Yorkie breed.
