At first the contractions were slight but could be felt if I put my hand on her side. Her sides would get hard to the touch and then ease. As they went along, the contractions were visible because the babies would almost pop out of her side because the contractions were so hard. I could see the muscles tighten around the babies and hold for a while and then ease. When they got to that point, I knew we were in for a delivery. |
Oh ok, I'll have to keep my eyes out for that. This has been an experience and I just can't wait till the pups are delivered and can actually see them. It was just amazing last night being able to feel them moving, and to see them kicking. I was like OMG WOW!:grin2: |
My females usually stick their butts in the air with each contraction that s how I can usually tell for sure they are ready. That poor little girl of yourss looks ready to pop! |

Thanks, You all have been so wonderful. You have all given me so much good information. With all the reading i've done i thought I was ready for this, but thank god for all of you, you've made this all alot easier for me :-D |
how is she coming along? |
How is she doing this evening? Also - What is her name? |
She "Nelly" is doing great. playing with the other 2 like nothing. So confusing lol... she was laying on my chest earlier today and I could feel the pups moving around and that was again just an awesome feeling. I'm thinking the 1st breeding isnt the one, lol... will probably be this weekend or early next week. Her temp tonight was up slightly to 99.5. Her normal temp is around 100.5. |

Question for anyone ?..... 2 weeks ago we had Nelly in the vet and she had a bladder infection, they put her on meds for it, cleared it up. Well she is having the same symptons, but not sure if it is cuz she is due or if the infection may be back..... She has a little bit of a problem holding her bladder and today noticed a mucus discharge in where she pee'd. Now there is a little but or a clear or slight yellow...mostly clear though discharge coming out. Is this due to her being due anytime now or do you think she has the bladder infection back ? |
Its normal to see a clear mucus discharge before labor. it is the plug it can show right before or up to a week or so before. I bet shes getting very close now. |
She is not showing any other signs, no scratching or anything. Her belly has been getting tight at times, is this contractions? |
So her temp has been in the 99.5 range all week, her normal temp is around 100.5. This morning her temp dropped to 98.8 at 10am then 99.6 at 4pm and back down to 98.6 at 8 and now its 99.9.... Guess its just the anxious me wanting the pups to come out, but starting to worry. Her sides are very tight where normally there were more loose. *sigh* will she ever show us her pups?:idontknow |
A watched dog never whelps!! WALK AWAY..... :D |
I'm trying, it worries me though, the previous owner said she likes to "drop and run" She had a pup under the bed and left it to die. We have anything blocked off so she cant get under anything. On her 1st litter the previous owner paniced and broke the sac for her and since then she never breaks open the sac. Once that is done she takes over and is a great mom. So I am so afraid we won't see her deliver. The previous owner also said she never scratched thats why they didnt know she was in labor. UGH.... trying to leave her to herself. |

My Yorkies sleep in the bed with me. Anyway - Lexi slept right by my side with my arm around her the night she went into labor. She started getting squirmy & couln't sleep. I got up & brought her whelping box in the livingroom with me & sat on the floor by her box just to let her know I was there for her. I started watching Greys Anatomy on VCR & was really into it. About 1 hour later I looked down & she was cleaning her 1st puppy - she had eaten the after birth & cut the cord all by herself. Her stomach was hard I guess because all 4 puppies were doing flips in there all night long. Do you feel them moving around in there??? If so - Are they really active??? |
