| Awww, thanks so very much everyone, from Lilly, Baby girl & Myself ![]() It really warms my heart to see so many people care about us out there. I am so very sorry I haven't been on to reply, but my system is really messed up. Pop ups happening non-stop for some reason, and the blocker isn't working at all. I'm thinking it might be a hidden virus. This post is only able to be written while disconected, and then reconecting to send. I really need to get it into a shop, but with one daughter starting up in college, other daughter going into high school & of course puppy's vet bills... you know, its the priorities thing right now I am extremely proud of our little Miss Lilly, and as I suspected she is a fantastic little Mommy We only have one concern... two actually, Lilly chewed off the babies embilical cord this afternoon right up to the belly However it doesn't look like she's torn the skin at all & I'm only feeling a slight lump. I'm taking both into the vet tomorrow or wed for a check up, and to get babies tail & dew claws done, so we'll let the vet see if there is a problem. I put a little iodine on it just in case. The only other concern is Lilly has far, far, far too much milk for this one little girl & Baby is a real piggy!! She started out 125 grams (4.58 oz) and only 48 hours later she weighs a wopping 168 grams or 5.25 oz! She is eating non-stop and is already the porkiest litte puppy ever. Otherwise Mommy & Baby are doing wonderful. I think now it may be good she only has the one to deal with at this point, and it will give her some excellent practice on how to care for more if there is a next time. For now she is looking to me for nearly everything, including spoon feeding her, & as a babysitter while she lays on my bed and relaxes. She is actually nudging baby right to me and walking away which kind of surprised me... but I do love that she trusts me so much. No one else is even allowed to touch the baby with out her having a panic attack, so it makes me feel pretty good. I can't wait to watch this little girl grow, and see how she blossoms. I'm sure she will be bigger than her Mom at this point. To answer a few of your questions: her entire labour lasted aprox 3.5 - 4 hours. From when I could see the male puppy's back feet to when I called the vet just over 2 hours had passed & things had hardly progressed. I began to get extremely concerned. However I won't panic the next time, since I know now what to watch for. Lilly was not in distress & had been taking many breaks, contractions were not constant, and she relaxed frequently between pushing. Had we given her more time I am sure she would have eventually progressed on her own... or at least with only very little help. After everything was done, I realise now it's just something you have to experience first hand to really know & understand... and it's absolutely nothing like watching a larger breed whelp that doesn't belong to you. This was my tiny baby having babies... so way more personal & emotional. The bulbus things I was seeing were in fact one puppy sack, but for some reason it was full of air, or water (not sure which) and it looked as though feet were floating in one, & absolutely nothing was in the other but air or water. Still unsure as to why it was coming out like that, but it was like looking at a water balloon squished into two. I could see his tiny little feet kicking away in the one, but the other was clear. The female came out looking completely normal, and her sack was more like she was covered in a saran wrap film. Anyhow I truly wish I could give you a great big hug from us, and tell you all just how much you all mean to us now. You truly made this experience much more meaningful in so many ways. I will add more pics as she developes, so all our new friends can watch her grow up with us Thanks again to all of you... I know we couldn't have done it all without so much care & support from each & every one of you |
