| There does seem to be patterns within each line. Some have pups that are big and slow and stop growing early, some have late growth spurts, and some are just slow and steady growers. It's one of the reasons it's important to know your line when estimating the adult weight of a pup.

| Well, you can never know. Rubi, my six year old stopped growing at 7 month right after she had her first heat. She weighed around 4 and a half Ibs. Then, almost at one year of age, she grew up all in a spurt an put on 1 1/2 Ibs. I didn't overfed her, she just got bigger. Having said that, I suppose that leaving particularities aside, the sire and dam's weight must play a role. |
