| Both my females did not get big until they were about 7 weeks pregnant, then they grew almost over-night! I thought they were going to have small litters because they were so little, but did they surprise me. They just started expanding and ended up having 4 pups each. Try not to worry too much. And please post you x-ray results!

| 45 day is too early to get a xray. you need to wait til day 58 or around. sometimes you cannot tell they are pregnant at all until they deliver or around the 50th day. change your appt for the xray. again, way too early

| Lisa, The vet tech at my vet said on a 45 day xray that you can see skelatons and would be able to count number of puppies to expect. If you get xray done on day 58 won't babies be too big to really get a good picture of how many? I can't remember when I had a picture taken when Davie was pregnant, but we could see the one puppy she had. I don't xray any more becasue of the cost and two weeks later you have them anyway, and the $80 can go for a dinner out!! I will do a little research on this and see what others think. Have a great 4th!!

i personally do not have xrays taken. i think it is good to know how many puppies to expect but the xray can miss puppies as well even while being done earlier so either way, you really don't know. from what i have read and been told from my mentor and the experienced (more experienced than me since i have only been doing this for 3 + years) breeders (20 yrs +) that if you have the xrays too early, it can harm the fetus. best to make sure you do it as close as the delivery date as possible.

| what ever you do, do what feels right for you. that is what is most important. if you feel you need to have xrays, then have them if it will give you peace of mind. whelping is so stressful anyway so no need to have extra stress on you. good luck to everyone happy 4th i am going to the pool. yea!!!

| so it's been 48 days since the tie( may 21). i took her to the vet and he said she is NOT pregnant. she has some clear discharge... is this normal for a "false pregnancy?"she gained about almost one pound since the tie.i just dont want any surprises when it comes to my little girl. any advice is great. thanks for looking. |

did you witness the tie? how many ties? who was the stud...a proven stud...a friends stud...or your own? how old was the stud? it just baffels me about false pregnancies. mine have never had one but i have read post here of some people it has happened to. the clear discharge i cannot comment about. did the vet know about the discharge? one other thing....i just recently heard from a friend of mine, her friend took her girl to the vet at day 57 for xrays and they stated she was not preg. 4 days later she came home from work to find 4 puppies all over the home. all survived but she was livid at the vet

1. yes i did witness the tie 2. 4 ties 3. the little boy is my own 4. he is 2 years 2 months when he tied. (not a proven stud. it was his first time) it's really scares me about the story with your friend. i dont want this to happen to me. I have read about position of dog during xray. does it matter really matter that much? She had it done on the side. others said on the back is better. | |

| My vet does it on their side and we get a great pic. I would keep an eye on your gal just to be sure, mistakes are known to happen. Keep us up to date.

| My little girl is pregnant. I took her to the vet on her 20th day and he did a pregnancy test for canine and showed me the results. You can do a pregnancy test for her now if you want to know. I am sure if it has been that many days then the pregnancy test will show. Good luck and let us know. |
