| Temp Is 98.5 On Day 55!!!!!! should i be worried???? Tootsie's temp was 100.0 on monday (day 53) now it's 98.5 I have heard this is a sign of delivery in 24 hrs or so, could this be harmful if the litter comes on day 55 or 56? her last litter was early a week and a half early. she showed no symptoms of labor last time as far as not eating or "nesting" she isn't doing anything like that now either, is it safe to leave her for short trips to the store? i am so confused and worried.

Her temp will fluxuate up and down as her time approaches. Not every pregnacy is the same. It's when it stays down for 12 hours is when the time has arrived. This is not always the case. Short trips to the store should be fine. I don't leave at all starting at day 57. Question? You say she was a week and half early her last litter, was this a live birth?

| I wouldn't leave her until I knew what was going on for sure. Take her temp every so often, see if it stays down. It could be a fluctuation. Did her last litter survive? |

| yes, it was a single birth and it did survive. I am worried because her last litter was so suddenly brought into this world.

Next question....did the pup have coat....was it fully developed. I only ask because could there have been a possibility of miscalculations....Usually pups born a week in a half early don't survive.

| He (we named him Loser) was fully developed, had a coat but was checked out by the vet and he said i may have miscalculated by only 3-5 days he was very slow at everything his eyes didn't open until he was 17 days old he walked and ate about 2 weeks later than a "normal" puppy. he was a bit delayed but healthy.

If in fact she keeps her temp down...make sure it doesn't go below 97...that is an indication of a problem. You may want to have checked out by your vet.

| Well last night her temp was 99.9 this morning it's 100.1 so, what do you guys think on a estimated delivery date? I figured up august 1st with the first day of breeding being june 2nd but the link that was given on this post (thanks a bunch) says august 4th I am leaving on vacaition on the 4th!!!! I was hoping they would be here so i could get the tails done before i left. I don't want premature babies but she needs to speed things up and have these babes before i go out of town i hate to put that on my petsitter.

| whelping First rule of breeding..the bitch does not read the books, care what you want, she does it her way, when she is ready...I missed a funeral once drumming this fact into my head...it is not easy telling people you weren't there because of your DOG.. as I was dressing, I heard her digging in her bed..yep, she had them! Good Luck |

| I know,I know, i wish I could teach her to read LOL!!! she is doing great, but she isn't eating much and it seems to be showing her hip bones and spine are more feelable, than normal..... is this ok? i have to trick her into nutra/cal she will eat eggs but i didn't want to give her a bunch of stuff out of her normal diet of dry kibble ( i'm afraid for her to get loose stools and go into premature labor) i don't want her to get thin either, she woke up this morning burping alot (and right in my face YUK!!!!) but anyway I was kinda trying to get an idea of when to look for her scratching around for her delivery.

| diet I would kick her diet up a bit..so slow and feed small meals several times per day. Will she eat cottage cheese mixed with dry kibble..you can mix kibble with chicken and rice. give her a cube of american cheese one or twice a day (tiny ones)..just so slow.. |

| I have a couple of bitches that never nest, until onset of labor. The only thing I've learned that gives them away, is they get a real dumb look on their faces....kind of spacey.
