Who Is Having August Babies

Well, Mia welcomed her 3 babies in to the world today.
1 girl and two boys all in the 5 oz range.
Mom and babies doing well...
and
Gracie is due soon too.
Her temp is down to 99.8 maybe a long nite..

Tinkerbell had her 3 boys yesterday. It was the most beautifull thing she has ever done She is a good mommy too (heart)

But the mama and girls are doing well

In order of appearance
#2 - 4.0 oz
#3 - 3.3 oz (having some trouble nursing today - would love some tips!)
#5 - 3.7 oz

More later - lots to do! These puppies are work!

Congratulations Lynn and of course Twinkles too!! The little girls are so cute. I'm sorry that you lost the two little boys

Keep an eye on #3 that is having trouble nursing. Check her weight frequently and place her on mom frequently. She may also need some nutri drops. If you can't get her to nurse, supplement her. You can also try putting just a little Nutri Cal on one of mom's boobies to encourage her to nurse and it will help prevent hypoglycemia if you don't use the nutri drops.

Thanks for the tips. I have been giving her a mixture of Karo syrup, potassium chloride (salt substitue) and sodium chloride (sort of homemade Ringers Lactate) - 5-6 drops per gm every 2 hrs. (found this in Serrane's breeder's book) and putting her to breast every hour. She is also having trouble keeping her temp up, so in addition to the heating pad I have these baby teddy bears that go in the microwave to heat up and have those surroundingthe pups under a baby blanket to keep them in a nest (with mom on one side). She is sucking better this afternoon - still a little lethargic. The vet said to give her supplement formula, the book says no! Neither is a Yorkie expert..... I like your idea of putting nutracal on mom's nipples, but don't want her to get an overload of sugar, so I guess I should stop Karo, right? I don't want to lose another pup!

BTW, have you weighed her to see how she's doing weight wise?

I think I would do one or the other. Since you've tried the first one, maybe try the nutri cal on the nipples. She needs to keep her sugar level up and that will also help her regulate her temp. Since she is still lethargic I would supplement her and do as you're doing with keeping her warm. Keeping her warm is very important. She burns up alot of energy trying to nurse and she needs to have that replaced. Keep trying to put her to the nipple tho. You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work and keep a very close eye on her.
