Tail docking, how short?

I am with you Donna! I did them once with my sister (a nurse) and when we heard the "crunch" sound that did it for us. Take 'em to the vet now and have no plans to ever try again. I do, however, always use the same vet and show him each time I take them in where I want it done. He thinks that I am a control freak (and I am), but I want to make sure that it is done right.

Holy cow! I am afraid to cut Zoey's toenails. I am def. too much of a whimp to ever be a breeder. I don't think we realize just how much you breeders do!

OH NO!!! I cannot IMAGINE doing tails and dew claws myself!!! I do not really even want to learn!! Hats off to those who have the stomach to do so, but not me...
I actually love those little tails. My puppies get done tomorrow. I keep watching them nurse and each one curves their little tails a certain way. They are so shiney and plump and STRONG. I am surprised how they move around already.

Maybe one day like Mary said I can do it but right now I don't think I have the stomach to handle it. I freak out over whelping I can't imagine doing tails and dew claws LOL
