| I guess the best way to learn is practical application!!! I know if anyone knew anything about this, or had any experience with Dna and AKC they would offer an educated guess. I may end up having experience...at least in this area! Thanks All!!

| No. Haven't tried that. The breeder sent in Umas' DNA sample, so I figured they would only give information to her concerning the sample. I have requested a copy from her, left a message on her answering service. Haven't heard back in 3-4 days. Left another message yesterday requesting a copy..still haven't heard from her. Maybe she is traveling. I know she is a single Mom working a farm and raising Yorkies, but DH pointed out to me that she has not been as friendly or communicative since she recieved the sample. I thought I did my homework befor purchasing my puppy......I guess anyone can be taken. I will see if AKC will tell me anything, but I doubt it. She is also the one who sent in the paternity request, which I paid for. She said it would come back faster that way. That was 3 wks. or more ago.

| Are you dealing with others with DNA testing or just AKC? If so, who? I have my male's DNA, but after reading this thread, I am wondering if I should DNA test my girls? What do you think? What are the pros and cons?

| We are dealing with the breeder and AKC. The breeder has her males DNA. She does not have her females DNA. The Dame who would be Umas' mom is missing...presumed stolen. There is a sister to Umas' Mom? available and they were born in the same litter. If I was a breeder I would DNA ALL my pups . I would also microchip ALL puppies. I don't think there are any cons to having a DNA on file of the pups you are breeding. Maybe... and i am no scientist! Maybe by looking at the DNA on particularly nice breedings one could try to figure out how to get more consistant results. Just a thought.

| The Breeder quit communicating with me. I am having her DNA testing done myself. The breeder quit communicating when I requested a copy of the results. AKC has told me they would pay for the paternity match. AKC is also not happy with the way the breeder had me send her the DNA swab, said it was not neccessary for her to send the swab in. I still do not know who my Uma is...but I do know she is beautiful. I also know both the breeder and the broker are in trouble with AKC. And the saga goes on untill I do know something.
