| To determine whelping date Do you count 63 days from first tie or the 63 days from the last tie? |

| like what dee said...from the 1st tie. they can go up to 65 days but if she hasn't delivered by day 65, she needs to see a vet right a way. mine have gone at day 60, 63, 64, 65(scary)

| You actually start 58-63rd from first time and 2nd tie. I have a female whelp everytime on her 63rd day from her 2nd breeding. You can purchase a whelping/breeding wheel from revivalanimal.com

| Just Curious With out a test or ultra sound.. are there signs of Pg in a Yorkie before you can you see the belly getting big? If so, about how many days with each sign. And how long is it till u can see visible signs of Pg?

| At about 3 weeks Morning sickness might occur due to hormonal changes or stretching and distension of the uterus. Dam may appear a bit apathetic. She may be off her feed for a while and vomit from time to time. Feeding the dam several meals spaced throughout the day might help. Your veterinarian may want to prescribe a drug to relax the uterus. At about 4 weeks An experienced person (a breeder or a veterinarian) can tell by careful palpation whether the dam is pregnant. It's now the best time to do this because the embryos are walnut-sized now and easy to count. |

| I was not sure if I wanted to breed my girl or not and was talking to my vet on this. I have been researching and still researching and asking questions. We have 3 yorkies.. 1 male and 2 females. One female spayed .. she is very tiny (3lbs) Our other female is around 4 and a half pounds. Well, She was in her second heat and I was giving her a bath... My daughter had just gave the boy a bath in our other bathroom. My daughter was then towel drying her boy on her lap in the living room. I opened my bathroom door and my girl ran out and that fast the boy jumped on the girl .. we hollered and it was to late... they tied. So, just incase you want to make me feel bad... Mistakes happens to all humans.. I am stressed enough and trying to do what is best from this terrible inncident. I knew I was not yet prepared for me to breed .. As I am still researching and learning. Sooooooooo I wanted to know signs to make sure. Although I had already talked to my vet and he said if I feel she is pg after 30 days make sure that I have her in for an xray at around 5 to 6 wks... If anyone has any other polite advice I would love to hear it.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Hi Mistakes happen and can happen to anyone. Sometimes its hard to tell if they are pregnant for awhile. Some signs may be vomiting (morning sickness), nipples stay errect, vulva may stay swollen (not go back to the normal size), and she may seem more "needy". Around 30 to 35 days in , I've found that if I lift up my girl from under the arms and have her body dangle down straight I can tell if her belly is getting round. When did they tie? Unfortunatley is hard to tell for while. Good luck !!!! Quote:

It could cause damage the pups. You need to wait until she is at least 45 days. I don't do X-rays on mine until they are around 50 days pregnant. AND as always YT is always here to help if you need it. Mistakes do happen just read everything you can to help get yourself prepared, Is there a breeder in your area that might help you?? Maybe let you watch a birth and answer questions, be on hand when it's time for pups to be born. | |
