| I've heard of this before in a Bull Dog, and the remaining pups lived, but I can't imagine your poor little girl going through 2 Sections, or worse, infection, trauma, or a ruptured Uterus if she goes into labor. You are now at the Mercy of trying to save your female, thanks to an incompetent Vet. The scary thing is that you had 2 Vets tell you the same thing, both were wrong! Mucus is totally normal a week or so before whelping. Most times it's smarter to contact another breeder than some Vets when it isn't an emergency. Prayers are with you for a happy, healthy outcome!! |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | This is absolutely crazy! A pregnant yorkie isn't a cake baking in the oven that you check the center with a toothpick to see if it's done. This poor, poor dog. I would find a different vet.

| I would really wonder abput this vet. I have NEVER heard of doing this. I would look for a new vet also. I will be praying for your Mommy and also for the litter that is inside. Please keep us informed on her progress.

| I hope everything is ok with the puppies. When Bailey was pregnant she wasnt feeling very well for several days and I got very worried about her and took her to the emergency vet clinic. The vet on call felt around for the puppies and told me she didnt feel any. You could clearly see that see was getting bigger and had swollen nipples. She then did an xray (it was too early to xray and I told her that) and no pups so then did an ultrasound and once again she found no puppies but her uterous was obviously dialated. She said that could only be 2 things, she is pregnant or has pyrometra. She decided that my dog who I was sure was pregnant was not pregnant and instead had pyrometra. This was this girls first mating and first litter. She sent me home to make an appointment first thing in the morning for a CSection. When I got home I started reading about Pyrometra and how deadly it can be and got scared and took her immediately back to the emergency vet and by this time the owner/vet was there and the first vet had went home. He went on her advise and notes and didnt want to push around on the belly in case the pyrometa erupted so he took her in for a C-section. I was in there with them and he opened her up and guess what? 6 puppies, no pyrometra. He apologized profusely and was very angry that the first vet didnt see anything on the ultrasound and told me as big as the puppies were she should ahve been ablt to feel them when she first did the exam. He felt terrible that he didnt exam her himself and just went on her word. He asked me what I wanted to do and I said sew her back up. He did and Bailey was fine after that and delivered 5 puppies. The other one which he said was very tiny must have reabsorbed. These thing happen and mine ended ok so I just hope everything here goes ok too. Please keep us posted. |

| Any news??? This is the strangest thing I have ever heard of to date on this board...so sad a vet would do this as a previous poster stated...she isnt a cake in an oven..you cant just open her up to see if she is done...id call whomever you need to to have this vet checked into and possibly removed!!
