| Some questions on puppies?? I just had a couple of questions for you breeders out there about puppies. Is it normal for them to have white on them when they are born and will it go away? Also is it unusal for them to weigh a little over 1lb already and they are not quite 3 weeks old? Thanks for any imput.

| I didnt know it was normal to have white at birth so that was a good question. One of Louies puppies had a tiny bit of white in its paw and its toenails were white when it was born and I thought that was strange but it went away. All of my others were completely tan and black when they were born but got the white on the chests as they got a little older. Good info to know. know I wont be worried that they are parti carriers or something. Not that I wouldnt mind it if I had a parti. Oh I forgot to say that I think I have had them weigh that much that young but would have to check my records to be sure. Last edited by CO_yorkie_momma; 06-21-2007 at 01:13 PM. |

| White mark on chest or toe happens from time to time. It will change to tan. Although with the YTCA/AKC standard any white markings that do not change and is more than an inch is a disqualificattion in the show ring.

| Thanks for the replies. Here is a picture of them at 2 weeks and 5 days on two you can see the white on thier toes and on the one little male around his mouth like a little kiss. The other male has it on his chest and then on the bottom of his feet like around the pads. He and his sister are also starting to turn a little white around their eyes. They were also weighed yesterday at 3 weeks old and two are 1lb 8oz. and the other one is 1lb 9oz.

| I have had a few puppies that were born with white marks, mostly on the chest. The marks blend to a tan color by the time they went to their forever homes though.

| I have never had the white markings around the eye, only on the chest which turned gold later. T. |
