thank you guys and I will measure her tonight. the vet that said that is the vet that I took her to when she was a puppy for her shots. I told him that I am thinking of breeding her in a 1 1/2 and he said well you know she will have to have a c-section because she is a small dog. She was still a PUPPY when he said this, She was only 8 months old ! that is why I am really not confortable with him. He never measured her or felt her or anything. She was not even a year old when he said this. I think he is Cut happy ! I am hoping this new vet is better. She seems very caring about the puppies and that is what I want. Someone who is in this profession with the puppy,cat,dog,kitten etc... in mind not the money ! I will let everyone know

you also have to consider you have bred her at a very young age. most do not do it until they are at least 18 months old to make sure they are mature enough and fully developed.

I totally undersand but like I said I wanted to wait till 18 months however we were called away on a family emergency and left them with mother-in-law who was told to keep them separated till we return ( never happened ) So now I have to deal with her pregnancy 4 months earlier than I wanted her to be pregnant. I am fully prepared to deal with it, i just wanted to let her wait like you said till 18 months. Has anyone bred before 18 months and have a safe delivery ? As far as mature I think she is ready for that, she is very motherly to the male and my husband's dog. she keeps them in line and lets them know when it is time to settle down at night and watch t.v. I have her whelping box already prepared and waiting to introduce her to it closer to the birth. I have a whelping kit ready, I have more books then my shelf can handle and best of all to make me feel calm and know that I can get help whenever I need it I HAVE YOU GUYS !!!!!

we have stayed up many of nights helping out people whelping. the good and the sad

That makes me feel that I am not in it all alone. thank you for the encouragement. I'm glad that I have someone to help me. I hope that I dont keep you up all night, especially for the sad.

I hope everything goes good for Suki. Her being pregnant kind of makes me feel like I am the one having the baby. LOL

She will more than likely do fine..You certainly sound like a cautious and educated person who loves and cares for your baby....continue to research and ask questions. Do find a Vet that you trust and feel comfortable about. The weight of the female and sire sound comparable for this to be safe. Have the little mama x-rayed and examined when the time comes to do a puppy count and pelvic measurement. When labor begins, you'll know how many to expect. Feed her a quality grade puppy food for the remainder of the preg. and throughout nursing. Have your kit ready...and keep studying so you'll have some knowledge of if she gets into trouble. Congratulations!!!!Awww puppy breath on the way!!

Stephanie thank you so much for the compliment and encouragement. I greatly appreciate it. Which puppy food would you recommend. I was thinking of ecanuba. they are on purina dog food right now. When should I switch her over. Now? I can go and get her some food today if you think it would be good to do ? Her vet check is the 25th of this month to meet her new vet and get a followup pregnancy test ( I know she is pregnant, But want to have her new vet check her anyway) Please let me know which food you think should be best for her. She is getting a little pugy , so I had to buy her puppy steps so she could get on my bed. LOL. cant wait for the puppy breath!
