Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I think you're thinking the right way - I don't think questions like THIS one would get off track because it's a valid question - some subjects just bring out the passion in people But I'd be curious to hear from those who know what would happen - hopefully we won't ever need this information in our lives - but it IS a great question. |

| We have quite a few breeders on this site and just to prove my point... I would like ANY breeder to post whether or not you would sell your puppies or commission them to a broker??? Pat, Rini- you have years and years of experience in breeding... have you ever used a broker to sell your pups? What do you think of breeders that broker their pups? Just curious. I would like to hear from any BREEDER on this forum that has experience in this area. Julz, Sylvan, Kimberley- will you use a broker to sell your upcoming litters and pups when they are ready to go? If what Kim says is true and there are "good" brokers out there... would you consider using a "good" broker?[/QUOTE] I was mentored by a show breeder when I began breeding my yorkies and I am grateful for all the wisdom she passed to me. I am not a YTCA member but do believe that a code of ethics is an important foundation in every aspect of life. I would under NO circumstances ever abdicate my responsibility to the dogs I produce to a third party and have trouble understanding the judgement of people who do. Yes, it's a pain in the butt sometimes dealing with all the applications and interviews and visits, especially when you have the tenth person that day calling and asking for a tiny teacup female that is quiet enough for their apartment. It takes a ton of patience, but you need that anyway when you are trying to produce a dog maybe worthy of the show ring someday. A big part of breeding dogs should also be about educating the people you encounter in the process. Fortunately, when you finally find those people that really deserve the delight of having a puppy to love and understand all the ramifications, you get to keep them as part of a sort of extended family. I am sure that even a 'good' broker (if there is such a thing) would not go to any of the trouble involved with matching puppies to lifestyles and finding just the right fit and making sure the new owners are as 'trained' as possible before they take home their pup. AND there is a very large difference between 'broker' and 'referral'. I will gladly refer people to other breeders that I personally know to be as forthright, honest and caring people. That does not make me a broker by any stretch of the definition. and since I'm on a roll here... I think it's unfortunate that Jeff Dane isn't going anywhere. I am sure there are many people who could think of a few places for him. I apologize in advance here if anyone finds this insulting, but it is just foolish to believe that anyone could possibly LOVE a hundred dogs at the same time. There are just not enough hours in the day even if you wear a red cape or fly an invisible plane. Get real. Anyone that celebrates producing a 2lb dog is only seeing dollar signs from the foolish, not striving to perpetuate a glorious breed, I don't care what kind of honey you spread on it. Sorry for saddling up the decomposing equine remains, but my tongue was sore from biting. |
