				 | We Are Having Puppies Right Now Lily just gave birth to 3 of the pups. She was in full on labor today and she has handled it like a champ! So far, so good. We have 2 more to go. Question: She is taking care of the umbilical cord on her own. What do we do with the little stumps left behind? Leave them or cut them? Keep your fingers crossed all keeps going smoothly for her.

				 | Question: She is taking care of the umbilical cord on her own. What do we do with the little stumps left behind? Leave them or cut them? If mom is taking care of them, you leave the "little stumps' alone. do not cut them. Don't bother them at all. they will dry up and fall off in a couple of days. mom knows what she is doing. congratulations. |

				 | She has 2 more to go, but nothing yet. I have read different things and need this clarified: She is going on almost an hour since having the 3rd pup. How long between pups before I call the vet? 1 hour or 2 hours?

you cut tie/clamp and cut. I prefer this as it gives you better control on where to cut. Less chance for umbilical hernias, mother chewing down to far...etc.
