You don't have to like the way I do things, but bottom line is that these are my dogs, in my care, with my set of rules and if people don't like my rules, they can look else where and they are still my dogs.

In the mean time, study up! You want to impress the snot out of that breeder when you approach them! Put a really cute dress on Anna and go to a dog show. Talk to people showing (when they aren't busy) and find out all you can about the dogs in the ring. Look at some of the more famous yorkies and try to burn into your brain what makes them different from other dogs and why they were so awesome. Form follows function, they look that way because it is the best structure to allow for free movement and less stress on the joints. Research training and genetic diseases and how to deal with a health crisis. You're stubborn and very determined, which can be a very very good thing in breeding. Even if you only breed for friends and family, you'll be giving them the very best puppies you can.

| Well, there is a big show weekend May 4, 5 and 6th in Gray Summit. You can look on this page. I'll go see if I can find any others. ![]() EDIT: Some on infodog too. www.infodog.com or www.onofrio.com are great places to start looking and will list most shows. |

Go to onofrio.com. From there you'll click on Shows...it'll take yourto a series of drop down menues...you're looking for future shows. Lots of them in you state and surrounding states. There is the Yorkshire Terrier of Greater Kansas City coming up in August.....along with 4 days of All Breed Shows included. There's one coming up this weekend in Salina.

| There are other show Superintendents, but Onofrio is the one that is more frequently used for the Central US.

| There is also a Yorkshire Terrier Specialty coming up in May in OK City...followed by 2 days of Toy Dog Shows.....It's held at the Biltmore (not as fancy as it sounds).....very fun 3 days for a young person. Not only dog shows, but night entertainment, dinner, dancing, etc.....also a Club Dinner and auction on Friday night after the YT Specialty....great place to meet YT exhibitor breeders from all over and judges.

| Just one small point to make, since most of the others have been addressed to no avail....it is my opinion, that if I breed a dog that any of those pups produced are ultimately my responsibility for the full extent of their lives. They are on the planet because of my actions and so I accept knowing that their welfare is and will always be my concern. If I released a dog with full registration and expected it to be bred, then THOSE pups would also be my responsibility..and so on and so on. That is a burden that most thoughtful, responsible breeders do not take lightly and so, do not willingly release any dogs meant for breeding without a serious and well executed mentorship arrangement. Anyone just willing to release registration with a higher price tag, to whomever, has questionable ethics in my opinion......and yes, there are lots and lots of them out there.

I usually make a mini-vacation out of it and stay in a hotel for a night (or sleep in the car...) if I need to go farther to see what I want. If you want to learn how to show, look up an obedience club in MO and see if they have a conformation handling class. They'll probably let you go to class with Anna, and you can apply what you've learned on a show pup if/when you decide to get one. Most club websites will tell you when they have meetings and what classes they offer. You and Anna would have a blast! Most will even let your daughter come if she's old enough and she can learn how to handle too! Junior showmanship can be a lot of fun for little munchkins and some start as early as 6!
