QUESTION: When ur yorkie is preggers.....

Well, ever since I got her (Feb. '05), she's always eaten Science Diet small bites. When I took her to the vet last Saturday I told the vet about her food and the vet told me to mix together the Science Diet small bites with the Science Diet Puppy small bites, so that's what I've been doing. I really, really, REALLY want to do the best thing for her and told my vet that too. I take her to the vet again next Monday. After that, we should be around whelping time.... I didn't say a thing to her, just rushed her outside - it's just the pressure of those puppies ! And as for Burping, well she burps a lot but only one Fart to my knowledge ! .....AND IT WAS STINKY !

Awwww your poor hubby! I'm sure he understood though. I don't think I've ever heard a dog burp before! And, come to think of it, I've never heard them fart either, I always just smell them!

Many breeders put them on high protein puppy food to give them higher nutrients and less fillers which they def need when prego. For the time being, remove chew toys and rawhides...they ingest air (contributing to gas) when chewing on them. Feed her a little at a time..if she is 'gobbling' food down, she is probably getting a lot of extra air in her belly as well.

Ah ok. I did stop giving her the rawhides weeks ago (thanks for telling me that btw as i was wondering about the rawhides) . Now, I do allow her the Natural Choice chicken and rice soft treats and also the Toro brand puppy sticks - they're kinda hard yet soft at the same time (???). She didn't seem to want that last treat too much these last few days, but if I give her a Natural Choice treat, she will almost inhale it becuz she loves them so much. heh

I just read the rest of this thread and accept my apology too ? I saw pregnant & spanking used in the same sentence then the 'other' comment & responded - now that you've posted more, I just wanted to say sorry....(maybe I was having a B day too ??) how's she doing now ??

oh and ps...some treats will give them gas...my girls have nuked me out of my office a few times after eating chewies

ahhhhh yes...the power of a small dog I know this is off the subject but can't believe you've never heard a dog burp - Chanel has let a few fly that would make a trucker proud...
