| ? about mating unproven dog and bitch My bitch came into heat last Monday, would I count Tuesday as her first day of estrus? She isnt "standing heat" but she will move her tail to the side when I stroke her back side...........yet the male dog does not mount her. Is she not ready or he? lol edited to say, both dogs are almost 2yrs old. male dog is not in his own environment but has been here since Thursday evening. they are getting along well. | ? I know this will not be of much help..but in all my years of breeding I have learned this...the male will either be interested or he won't..and there isn't anything you can do if he is not interested..no shots, pills or magic potions. Give it a few days..or go to a well used stud...best wishes. PS..a 12 or 13 day first breeding is not too late at all. I have had a number of 14 to 16 first breedings result in good size litters. |

| Yorkierose Thank you for replying. I'll wait it out and see. He is behind her smelling and licking her, so it seems he is interested! Last edited by Momma2S; 05-25-2005 at 01:08 PM. Reason: left out info |
