| Any info on Eileen Browne (Gardiner, NY)? Hi - I've been scanning the forums for info on NY-area breeders and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about Eileen Browne of Gardiner, NY. I got her name off of the AKC.org Breeder Classifieds and she has a website (hudsonvalleynyorkies.com). We have exchanged several emails and, based on her responses, she seems very personable and knowledgeable about her puppies. We have a tentative appointment set up for Saturday (weather permitting), but because Eileen isn't listed on the YTCA.org Breeder Referral page, I emailed her this afternoon asking if she had any local (NYC) references who I could contact (she had claimed that she's placed puppies on Fifth Avenue and in Queens in the past in her emails) and have yet to get a response. "Championship" AKC lineage isn't a priority, but I would like some peace of mind that I'm not patronizing a puppy mill and that her litter is purebred Yorkie (of regulation size, i.e. 5-7 lbs). Thanks so much for your help!! Regards, Ronna |

| She was once referred to me by my Vet, when I was looking for another Yorkie. She was the breeder for 2 other Yorkies who are my Vet's patients , but, when I called her she didn't have any puppys. Sorry, not much help, except to say that those 2 Yorkies must be very healthy for my Vet to recomend the breeder.

| Thanks fourdez! I did get a reply from her, finally, saying that she doesn't give out client info (which is perfectly understandable) but then she thanked me for my interest so I'm assuming she got a bit offended by my inquiry. After reading your reply, I'd be more willing to deal with her (I don't know if you'd mind emailing me your vet's name & phone # so I could follow up), but I'm torn between strictly going with a breeder listed on the YTCA or Greater NY Yorkie Club referral lists or someone like Eileen (who probably doesn't want anything to do with me at this point anyways ) ... oh well. |

| Gosh -- it's a 10 minute drive for me----I live in Wallkill. Haven't heard a thing about her, didn't know I had someone so close. I did a lot of web work too. |

| A reputable breeder would not be offended by inquires or references about her puppies. Ask her if you can talk to her vet. The breeder I bought my puppy from gave me her vets phone number and asked for our vets info. She called and talked to our vet and I called and spoke to hers also. Everything should be on the up and up. If not there are other breeders out there. And just because she has said she has sold to clients on 5th Ave, that really means nothing. Look at all the celebrities who buy puppies from pet stores. Good luck...half the fun of puppy shopping is meeting with breeders and cute puppies.

| Thanks again for the replies... I did roll my eyes at her oh-so-casually name-dropping "fifth avenue" in her email, but I guess she needed the advertising. But none of the other breeders on the referral lists ever went "there", so it's just another example of the differences between her and those other breeders (who all know and recommended each other, btw). I'm sure it'll be worth all the time & effort involved when I finally get the right yorkie |
