Update on Gracie and her babes Grace seems to be doing just fine. She's eating like a horse and immediately returning to her babies. I've been giving a few drops of maple syrup to the three that were not born naturally, because I have not seen them latch on yet. The other two have obviously full tummies. They are "alert" and moving around, so I'm sure they will figure it out soon enough. I'm wondering, though, if they still have some of the anesthetic in them from the surgery, at 7:45 this morning. I would have thought after 7-8 hours, it would be out of their little systems. . . ? Anyway, the syrup was my vet's suggestion, to prevent them from low blood sugar. I'm giving them 3 drops every 2 hours.

I just got back from the vet (she wanted to see the three c-babies). We bottle fed each of them to be sure they would suck (they all did, finally), and I left with all 3 having completely full bellies. She just said to bottle feed every 2 hours, until they latch on to mom. Gracie is not rejecting any of them. Those three just haven't figured it out, I guess. The vet said it wasn't uncommon for c-section babies to take a day or two to latch on. ??? Other than that, she said they looked perfectly healthy.

I'm giving the 3 pups each 1 cc of puppy milk replacement every 2 hours. Does that sound like enough? The girl is 6 oz, the boys 7.
