| why would you think she needs a c-section. most yorkies at the right age and size whelp fine. you really shouldn't need a c-section. (unless there is some kind of problem we are not aware of) let us know there are alot of people here that can give you some really good insite

| good thing to be prepared for but i am sure she will be fine. good luck to you and i hope all goes well. mine have never needed a c-section and i have seen on here where some have had a c-section but their girls were young and very small. very few times do i see one who is a candidate for breeding that needs one. the prices on c-section will vary from city to city and state to state. also, what time a c-section is being preformed. i have seen it from 400-3500. i would wait and see what your vet tells you. please don't get it in your head about a c-section b/c during her whelping when one little thing doesn't look right...you may think in your head """"" c-section!!!"""" but you do need to be aware of the signs when she does need to go to the er.

| Hey Virginians! Roxie's c-section was around $500. I have an emergency fund for my breeding program, it comes in handy cause you never know. Roxie's first pup was very large (6.5 oz.) and presented posterior with the placenta. It took her two hours to get him out with help. By the time the third was born she was just tuckered out. The vet made her wait 4 hours (wouldn't want him to miss his lunch) saying rest would fix it. She still had 3 more pups to go and because he had waited so long a stillborn pup was stuck in the birth canal. I now have a new vet and learned a valuable lesson. You are your dogs only advocate, sometimes you have to stand up for it even against the vet. Good luck with your whelping.

| I had a jack russel that accidentally got with a beagle (I thought she was out of heat, it had been 3 weeks), and she tried to have the pups but after hours I took her to the vet and they gave her a shot and still no pups....so they did a c-section...and while they were at it I had her spayed. Anyway for the c-section and spay it was $450.00...not too bad I didn't think. Good luck, I hope everything works out fine. |

| It is best to be prepared and learn costs of procedures. Don't rush into a c-section unless absolutely necessary. I have a nice sized girl who has delivered without complication in the past, but had to have a c-section the last time. She was on day 67 with no labor signs at all. The pups were growing by the day and we just had to get them out (vet actually called me at home). She was very large and looked ready to pop. Still was acting perfectly fine though. I'll attach pictures. Anyway.....you never know, but the larger percentage don't end up needing one. You can go online at check out some awesome whleping sites that let you know what to expect, what to wait out, and what are true warning signs that something is wrong. I wish you the best! Oh, these pics are 5 days before the surgery. The c-section was $400 or $500...once tails were docked a few days later, I had $750 into the litter. Last edited by Julz; 03-12-2007 at 05:30 PM. |
