				   | I purchased Penny, a Maltese from Terri Wylie, way back in 1992 when I was living in Ohio. I'm happy to say that Penny is healthy and turning 16 on April 19th 2008 and has been a wonderful companion. However, after reading all the posts, I got to thinking about the day my wife and I bought her from Terri. We were naive and knew nothing of puppy mills until reading about them many years later. As I recall, Terri would not allow us in to see where the dogs were kenneled. She would not show us the parents of the dog we chose either. But my wife didn't care and fell immediately in love with Penny. I don't recall there being any delays in receiving the AKC papers. Penny is a good dog, but I do not believe she is a pure breed Maltese as we were led to believe. I think she has poodle somewhere in her ancestry, as her snout is much longer than any Maltese I've ever seen. |

				   | While it's doubtful you'll recover anything from this so-called breeder, you express yourself very well and could do a lot of good going public with your story--try newpapers and TV stations to draw attention to the fraud that's being perpetrated upon people shopping for pets over the internet. You've leaned a really tough lesson about checking people out over and over before buying anything that way. Now don't you think you would have done much better to pay more and buy from a local breeder where you could see what you were getting? They all sound good in email and on the phone...Buyer beware. Best Wishes. Dudley Last edited by dudley1984; 03-31-2008 at 10:43 AM. |

				   | First let me say that I am so so sorry for you. This is awful. I hope you can return the puppy to her. People like this count on your falling in love with the puppy and not being able to return it. You sound determined to not be "had" by her and I would be the same way. I also have to ask, since you've been on YT for a little bit, how could you let so many red flags go by? I know it does nothing to help your current situation but you sort of let yourself be had. Please people. If something doesn't feel right, walk away. Well, I hope you get her good. Good luck. |

				   | This woman is still at it!! My friend's sister just purchased a puppy from Teri Wylie. She was told he was 6 months, but he was 8 months. He has something wrong with his gait and walks funny. He is a bag of bones, dirty, matted and acts like he is starving. The Vet said he is about 3 pounds underweight, which means he will be 10 pounds or so full grown - which is fine, but not how he was represented. I believe my friend's sister paid $400 for him. She didn't have much money and was desperate for another Yorkie since her beloved Yorkie recently died. The good news is that he is sweet and lovable and has now found a great home. I know of someone right now (a wonderful breeder - my breeder) who is selling a healthy, well-bred puppy as a pet for not much more than that. I only wish she had asked me before buying this little guy from Teri Wylie.

				   | I think it is important to keep this thread active because even though akc will not let her register with them, she has found a way. On her newspaper ads every day ( who has pups every day of every yr) she is breeding the heck out of every female out there) with her phone number she just says registered pup but has her mother or a friend stating AKC and of course they don't get papers. . I won't get involved unless I have seen with my own eyes and did 11 yrs ago and since have fought to close her down. At that point these little babes were out in the barn with the horses with no heat and the trash men said they found frozen pups all the time. Then they built a new big house for themselves but the living conditions was not much better for the pups as I was told. I got the same story. I acted like I didn't know a thing about a yorkie and she brought out a female a little over 1 lb that could barely stand up. I asked to see where they were kept because that was very important to me. She said it would not be possible since they were cleaning in that area. I asked if I could come back later and she said 'really I don't make a practice of showing that area' I then said ok, lets just forget it. I don't know how she can sleep at night but she seems to have no problem. Scroll down on this link, I don't know if you have seen this or not. there are two letters from people who purchased from her. Petstore Cruelty

				   | I also purchased a yorkie from Terri of Fairview Kennels after the loss of my first yorkie. It was in Jan. 1995 and he just passed last Thursday at 15 years old. When I called about the puppies, Terri told me she had the parents on the premises and I could see them. After I got there, she had 8 puppies in the house (4 each-from 2 litters). They were clean and looked healthy. I asked to see the parents as they were not in the house and she said they were out in the barn being fed and she couldn't disturb them. At that point it didn't matter as I had already fallen in love with one of the male puppies. Terri gave me the AKC papers and a contract outlining the shots, food and other instructions for the puppy. I still have the contract and at that time there was nothing in it referring to litigation. I took my puppy to the vet within the 48 hours stipulated in the contract and he was 100% healthy. Fast forward to 6 months and my Skeeter didn't look like the typical yorkie. Yes, he was 7 pounds but his ears never went up, and his body type was very husky, chest wide like a little bulldog. He definitely had some other genes in him. Still he was cute as a button and I loved him dearly. About 8 months after I had him I received a letter from the AKC asking detailed questions about Skeeter's appearance. Seems someone else who bought one of the littermates had filed a complaint saying their dog did not look like a purebred either. I filled out the paperwork and sent it back, so the AKC was investigating Terri at that time. Oh, and I never sent my AKC papers in because it didn't matter to me. The only health problem I had with Skeeter in 15 years was he needed an operation on his back knee (luxtating patella). I have been a dog lover and dog owner for 45+ years and Skeeter was the best ever. What a personality, he was a one person dog and I was lucky enough to be his one! He had such a big heart, and I miss him so much! I agree with all that this is certainly a puppy mill and it makes me sick to think of those yorkies in the barn being bred over and over again. At least I know I gave one of those puppies a fantastic home. |

				   | The scam this monster is doing is "bad" but I'm more concerned about all the poor little dogs. This #%$^ has been breeding for over 20 years. I want to know where we're at in shutting this puppy mill down. I'm working on sending emails to all the newspapers she places ads in. This being Friday, I'll have to wait til Monday to start making my phone calls. I think we ALL should start calling anyone & everyone in and around Fairview. When the law/rescue clubs/humane society get enough phone calls...Something WILL get done. If enough of you like, I can post phone numbers to call. |

				   | A couple of things...I would report her to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and ripoffreport.org. You will do much better with letters to the lawmakers as it is then documented but before you send any letters you need to look up the laws in the state of Ohio. She might not be breaking any laws so there is nothing you can do. If you check the laws maybe and she is doing something wrong then you can take her to small claims court... You have to take the emotion out of all of this and plan a attack from many directions but unless she is breaking the law your phone calls will be wasted. HEre is a website that will let you find the state laws, Michigan State University College of Law and I would also check out to see if she is registered USDA and if yes, see if she is breaking any laws that way.

				   | It's Dana - I am back (Coco's mom). I decided to join here and look up this thread. I was never able to get any satisfaction or compensation for the issue with Coco in 2007. I belive Terri is still in business as I saw a news article complete with video that was posted exposing her in 2011. Any ideas of how we can get her shut down for her terrible breeding practices? I contacted the Dog Warden of her county, BBB, DBA, and AKC, and Attorney General and no one cares. Coco is a great dog now and very sweet but has a lot of anxiety we can't seem to get her to get over. And she is a whopping 12 pounds. All this from a dog that was supposed to be under 10 pounds fully grown, "guaranteed". |

				   | I read the entire thread. Sorry you were scammed I learned the hard way too about buying your breeder first and never having a dog flown to you. Congratulations on having an oversized Yorkie they are the best! Teapots are what we call them... A completely unofficial cutesy term pet yorkie owners use. Please join the offiicial teapot yorkie club! FYI no breeder no matter how reputable can ever guarantee the size your pup will turn out at...they can best guess and give an approximation based on the size of the parents but other than that they are lying. Show breeders who have 20+ years experience often rehome or pet out potential show ups because at a year old they didn't turn out where they had hoped. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...apot-club.html My Schnorkie was guaranteed (by rescue behaviorist) to be under 12 pounds at 5 months he's now 21 my Elvis is a pure Yorkie @ 9 pounds, I LOVE the bigger Yorkies personally.
