| weird rash...pregnant yorkie i was told to put this in this area...ok guys this is freaking me out some...my girl Lexie is supposed to me 5 weeks pregnant and has suddenly developed a rash in her "area" in the last few hours. i have no idea what has caused this and i have no idea what to do. she is slightly swollen and uncomfortable. i know i will need to take her to the vet tomorrow if i cannot find a way to treat her from home but i just thought perhaps someone on here might have had this happen before. she has big red spots and some crusty areas too. it was not at all this way yesterday. i don't know if she has been licking herself or something because she has been staying swollen some. the vet said she looked normal but i know this part can't be normal...or at least it cannot feel normal for her. it looks horrible. :-( i just don't know what to do. I have never raised puppies so i am new to all of this. i am excited but i want to do it all correctly. i know she had her tummy shaved but the woman didn't shave her there so i don't know any reason for anything except maybe the shampoo to have irritated...i just don't know. i just hate having her all irritated all night...any suggestions? and her nipples are starting to do the same thing too...with the splotching rash looking redness...is this at all normal? ~Tru

| rash I am not one to take chances with a bitch in whelp..have the vet take a quick look/see...probaby just needs an oinment. I use Tree tea oil in areas they can not lick..but in this lickable area it needs to be safe for her. |

| Tru - did you change her food? Have you washed off this area yet? I would wash with warm water and a soft (mild) soap - like Dove and towel dry. See how this helps. Is she scratching or rubbing it? The body does go through a change (chemical). So it could be many things. What about having a real Christmas tree in the house. It could be that too. Just keep an eye on it, make sure you wash the area, like I said and see how it does. Take her in tomorrow if it doesn't get better. T. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | has she been licking the area alot lately? maybe its just a yeast infection. try keeping the outer 'area' around her vulva clean with soap and warm water. if it seems to be bothering her you can try a little cortizone cream in the folds.

| Don't use cortizone if she can lick it - not good for the pups. T. |

| i just don't know... the vet told me to use a cream on her before bringing her in to see him. he said to use triple antibiotic ointment with hydrocortisone on her. he thinks she is getting this sudden rash from licking from discharge. he also told me to keep her clean with a gentle warm wash cloth and a mild soap. she is going in to see him in a few days. I am worried about her though. between Romeo and her there is constant licking and i cannot get them to stop it. i seperate them and she has a hissy fit and barks and shreiks for hours. i cannot stand it. when i put him back she quiets down again. really it is nerve wrecking. :-) i will be happy when this is all over...lol. she is quite a moody little thing...lol. i have not changed her food...there is nothing new in the house that should be irritating her. i haven't changed anything at all. i cannot think of anything that should have caused this. i don't even have a christmas tree this year. i didn't spend the money since i saved it for the babies and Lexie and my other babies here. i just decided to do all of my Christmas with my parents next door. seriously there is no obvious reason to me as to why she is reacting like this. the only thing that was done to her recently was that her tummy was shaved down and her hair was washed but the woman always uses this shampoo and she has never had any reactions to it before and she didn't cut her there anyway so it is all weird...i will keep you posted and keep treating her and as i said she will go to the vet soon but i will consider any and all of your suggestions and i appreciate your help because my vet does not want me to bring her in until my appointment unless she gets worse thinking this wil help her. (he did say i could bring her in but it costs 40.00+ meds per appointment and he says he thinks i can just treat her from home saying he believes it is all from licking...and still he says i have to wait for an appointment). it is driving me nuts... ~Tru

| from bad to worse... OK I am going to see the vet soon but this is getting even more weird...do males hump on pregnant females? Romeo was humping Lexie. that was what was causing the irritation. he is doing it non stop when i am not around. she just lets him. i just don't get it. she does not act like it hurts her at all but she is getting all raw and horribly swollen. she looks just awful. i separated them as soon as i caught him doing it. now she is crying for him again. i just really don't know what to do here. her tummy is starting to get bigger and she is getting so darn moody i am beginning to think Christmas is going to be a crazy holiday. lol. i am not sure i will get much sleep tonight with all her stinking barking because it is echoing through the house and she won't stop it. has anyone ever encountered a moody female like this? is it from being pregnant or just this dog? i love this girl but she is worse than a person at times...lol. but to tell you the truth i still wouldn't trade her for anything in the whole world...lol. i just want her to calm down...lol. Romeo is worse too he pees on everything when he can't be near her...i am really getting ticky about him! his peeing problem is agitating!!! i tell ya one moody dog is bad enough but 2 can drive you nutty...lol...it must be something about the holiday season...lol. But searously...i do need some advice on what to do about Romeo and his apparent humping thing because i really do not know if this is a normal thing...all i do know is that Lexie is getting really messed up from it....and that worries me. ~Tru

| What day of her pregnancy is this? Sounds like she may have a lot of hormone thing going on? Are you sure she is pregnant? What age is Romeo? Your vet needs to check her out and make sure everything is okay with her, especially hormones. Some dogs once bred - will mark anything and everything. This is why we try to tell others that just want to breed once to have a pup what they might be getting into. Can you take Romeo over to your mom's house for awhile? At least it might help and let you have some rest. He may just be picking up on the hormones your female is giving out. I am so sorry for you. I know this must be driving you nuts. T. |

| well... well if Lexie is which we are pretty sure according to the vet she is about 6 weeks as of today...her tummy is getting bigger and her nipples are starting to swell. (though her tummy is not huge). i am not sure if she is showing like most yorkies because she is carrying the weight differently. she did put on weight though. my vet will be checking her out after Christmas is over which is in my opinion not soon enough for me. but it is the soonest that he could get her in. apparently he was booked before and not open now. i am using the hydrocortisone cream on her and keeping her away from Romeo and besides the barking which is reducing my sleep time she is appearing a little better...i think he was humping her a whole lot. (i'm just glad she was not a tiny girl). he is about 6.5lbs but a big boy and would hurt any tiny girl!!! dang...anyway this attitude worries me. he could hurt my tiny Juliet...i have to completely keep him seperated from her because now i don't know if he would ever try things like that with her and she is only 3lbs...this scares me! i am seriously considering having to...heaven forbid sell him because I could not keep him here that would mean too many doggies if he were doing that. this is getting crazy...i need a more stress free holiday. ~Tru
