| yes they are but usually when they tie, i hold them in my lap to protect my stud from getting hurt. so they are warm in my lap. most of my studding has been in spring and summer....not many winters. i can u/s your concern. this happens alot of times when the stud is smelling but not really doing anything. i use this method to move it along faster. they get so frisky w each other it just happens. i am always scared it is not going to happen and don't want to loose any time. i have a stud and i need to make sure he performs b/c if he doesn't, then the bitch will have to wait for the next heat. i don't want that repretation and they have paid for a service ....i need to make sure she gets pregnant. this is just my way. it is not everyone's way. let me know ...i will be watching for an update tomorrow.

| Lisatodd-I am sorry to say no luck with the bath. I turned the heat up and stayed in the bathroom and they both just sat there and shaked. I was really hoping this was going to work. Sadie is starting to get frisky and winston is enjoying it but when I step in to help it blows the whole moment and they become disinterested.

| Perhaps you could try the seperation again. I'm not sure how you did it, but try either in seperate areas all together...or better yet were he can see her, but can't get to her. Usually that will rile them up a bit. I would do that for about a half an hour and see what results. I hope it helps?? OR he just might not be ready to breed yet...he should be by that age, but they all mature at a diff rates.

| I have tried where he could not see her or I have seperated them with a gate. Either way it does not seem to affect Winston. I talked to our breeder that we brought sophie from last night and she is thinking that Sadie may be having a light heat.

| My male knew my female was in heat however he was all over the place especially in the wrong place. I would pick him up and place him where he was suppose to be. This went on he was so frustrated. I was exhausted I know that you are not suppose to let mating go unwatched. I decided to let them play in the back yard. I was sitting in my window and my daughter said mommy why are they stuck together. I jumped out the window to calm princess down and let them do what they needed to do. It was a 20 minute tie. I just figure he said well she is leaving me alone let me prove this to her. The male can tell when it is just right she went on day 11 prior to this was all the wrong way the trying. They do get it eventually.

| Sadie went home and they never connected. I think I got Sadie when it was too late. She came to my home on the 11th or 12th day of her first bleed. Winston was interested at first but as time grew he just wanted to play. I did seperate them and then put them in a bathroom just the two of them and Sadie laid down and slept and winston just walked around totally not interested. I heard that sometime the male will not mate if you are around so that is why I tried them alone in the bathroom. I just feel bad because Sadie is a great dog and I know that they would have made great babies. Thank you to everyone for all your help, I will like to try again and I feel I learned so much from everyone.
