New Puppies! Hi, We had new puppies this afternoon! She was due on the 13th, we had her ultrasounded and it showed one. Her temp dropped last night and she was digging and trying to nest. I took her to work with me this morning (good thing I work at a ranch!) She started pacing and digging and panting and then she laid down on her pillow and had the first one, a little girl. It was backwards, but she got it out with no problems. She was licking it and letting it nurse, and we thought she was done, and I started working again, and looked down and she had the second one halfway out. It's a little boy. The girl is 6 ounces, and the boy is 5.7. Mom is about 8 pounds, dad is 4.5 pounds. I am so excited, this is her second litter, but my first.

Hello, Does anyone know how to get momma to go outside to potty? She won't leave them, when I pick her up and carry her outside she just stands at the door and parks and panics. I've got her crate backed up to the whelping box so that she can get out from the puppies, and she's been pottying in there. It's supposed to be in the 70's today, so I think I'm going to wrap the puppies up in a blanket and take them outside with her so she can see them. Maybe she'll potty outside then. I've got the daddy and another neutered male, and she's growling and snarling every time she sees them. The daddy is so sad, he loves her to death and he misses her. I think that is part of the reason she won't go outside, she's afraid that the boys will get her puppies. Whitney

Segregate Can you segregate the males so they cant get in the same room as the puppies? This might help. Be glad she is that protective, she will be more at ease in a few days. Good luck
