Help! Lili started her period!!! Lili went into heat today for the first time and I don't have any diapers. The pet stores are closed. target and walmart dont carry them. Is there anything I can use around the house for tonight? I have some left over pee pads... thanks

| Well.. I'm certainly no expert on heats and whatnot,.. but I have had to fashion my own diaper of sorts for Oscar to keep him from licking his neuter stitches... I took an old cotton tshirt and cut it into a rectangle - I cut a circle for his tail. I then just placed it over him (pulled tail through hole) and pinned the sides with safety pins (looked like a cloth diaper for babies). For your situation, you could also put in a panty liner if you have any on hand. Not sure if this will help or not - good luck!

You can use primie diapers - they work too! Most yorkies do a pretty good job keeping themselves clean - you usually don't have to worry too much. T.

Do you/friends/neighbors have small children? Ask to borrow a 0-3 month onesie. Emma's been wearing hers since her spay-works wonders for this-might also work well when in heat to absorb anything.

Actually the blood discharge is a very small amount and the little drops wipe up easily with a cold rag. I notice the "biggest" blood spot from where they lay down to sleep so just put her on a towel tonight and keep her confined to a small area. I would think you could cut up a pee pad and tape it, but don't be surprised if it doesn't stay on long.
