Well.. I'm certainly no expert on heats and whatnot,.. but I have had to fashion my own diaper of sorts for Oscar to keep him from licking his neuter stitches...
I took an old cotton tshirt and cut it into a rectangle - I cut a circle for his tail. I then just placed it over him (pulled tail through hole) and pinned the sides with safety pins (looked like a cloth diaper for babies). For your situation, you could also put in a panty liner if you have any on hand.
