| Am I being too picky? We had a lady come over this past weekend to see our puppy, Beau. On the phone she sounded very interested. She left uninterested because I didn't allow her to hold him. I told her it was for the health of the puppy, that my husband and I are the only ones who handle them until they are six weeks old and have had their first shots. Are we being too picky??? should I have just let her hold him????? and if she is going to be offended that I am taking the puppies health into consideration, should I take that as she wasn't the one anyway?

| You are not picky...you are actually doing the right thing. If I were you I would wait until they are 6 weeks and then have people come over also keep a bottle of hand sanitizer on hand. If she got mad because you were more concerned about your puppies health well then so be it. She should be happy that you did that. |

| Well, I can see your point in not wanting him handled so young, but I definately wouldn't be interested in a pup I couldn't handle myself. I would do like someone else here suggested and wait until he is older and at an age where you wouldn't mind him being held. |

| No, definitely not. I've had FAMILY to sanitize at 1 week old lol. I knew they had other dogs. Strangers could have just come from pet stores, please, the situations are endless lol. I believe we each have to do our best to protect them, particular with no shots yet. And you'll probably never see those people again. I think they probably left with the impression that you really care for your pups and if they didn't, it's their loss. Susan |

| no your not it makes sense to me there's no telling what's on people's hands! or you could get some of that purell or germx hand sanitizer and make people use it beofre they touch the babys! and even take off their shoes before they come inside there's no telling what kinda germs may be on someone's shoes yuvk ...lol and no strange dogs others pets of potential buyers allowed around them either.

| Nope, you are not being picky, you are being a good mother. You recognize that your furbabies health comes first and not a sale. Your actions show you care more about your furkids welfare then making a quick buck! If only more people were like this!

| No I certainly dont think your to picky......I think you are being a good mom Puppies are so prone to diseases and you just dont know for sure when their natural immunity wears off from moms milk. I really dont like people viewing puppies until they are at least 6 weeks old. Cause everyone wants to touch them. Unless you hate animals who wouldnt want to touch and cuddle the lil sweethearts! Even though you explained yourself, she may have been offended. You just never know what people are truly thinking. She might have thought you considered her dirty, or she might have been afraid the dog was to fragile and it could lead to problems. Or possibly she thought you were a tease!..........lol..........playing with that adorable puppy and not letting her play too! You big meany! Id say most people who occupy yorkietalk are very educated on yorkies/puppies, if not at first they will be quickly because they have a true desire to learn and understand. But not all people have that knowledge, understanding and for whatever reason they may take things personally. You had your puppies best interest at heart and thats what is the most important.. |

| I would wait to advertise until the pups are older. I don't advertise until they have had their 8 week vaccinations and have recovered from that. I do allow people to hold them at that time, after sanitizing their hands. Before they even come over I explain how cautious I am and please not to visit or play with other dogs before they come. |
