I am so sorry. I have been wondering how that little boy was doing all day. Dont be hard on yourself you did the best you could. Now you need to focus on the litttle girl and Mom. Congrats on the little girl. I am sure she is adorable

Dear Lucy's Mom,
Honey, I know you are exhausted, you did such a great job, and the best you could. I am so sorry to hear about the baby boy, so glad to hear the little girl is now eating and doing good. I felt so helpless last night, as I don't know anything about whelping puppies, and I couldn't do anything to help you but I sure was praying on this end for you and Lucy with the babies. I look forward to seeing picture of your new little girl and her mommie Lucy. What name are you giving her? Sending big hug to you and gentle one there for Lucy and baby. Patti

I am upset with the emergency vet last night who told me it was fine that his belly bled a little and just to put pressure on it and that puppies are pretty resilient. ( I knew this wasn't really the case for small dogs) Then I called this morning to my vet office and the other lady vet relayed a message to me that a little bleeding/blood was nothing to worry about and to start bottle feeding if they aren't nursing

THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME YESTERDAY. MUFFIE WAS GOING WILD ON THE CORDS AND THEY WERE BLEEDING. I CALLED AND THE DR STATED IT WAS OK AND TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T TOO CLOSE. WELL I COULD NOT STOP MUFFIE....SHE JUST KEPT AT IT WITH ALL OF THEM. I WAS SO SCARED.
I AM SO SORRY THIS HAPPENED TO YOU. IT IS VERY HEARTBREAKING.

Who couldnt be kind!! You did a great job and made the calls you were supposed to...you just didnt get the best advice. So sad for baby and Lucy...but I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason.

Take care of that lil baby girl and I would love to see pics of mama and baby when you get some time.

OMG, Please please be very cautious on this. This infection set in sooo fast. All you can do is make sure it stays clean and sanitized ( Iodine tincture)although the germs could have already gotten in when mama chewed cord or licked it? ( this is what vet said to me). Sorry don't want to scare you but the loss of my little male was terrible...and I surely don't want anyone to have to go through that.

thank you...i have not even paid any attention to the cords but i will go and look to see if any look bad. what should i clean it with?

Well little baby girl is doing alot better now and is feeding normally. She is gaining weight nicely. I didn't have a chance to weigh her this morning since I had food poisoning last night..but yesterday the pup weighed 7.35oz! She was 5oz when born Monday night 8/21. I am soo happy about this and not having to bottle feed or supplement her. Now I have to find a name for her. Any suggestions?

Iluvlucy,

You did great. SOmetimes things happen you can not control. Breeding is an art..........sometimes the picture is right sometimes its not.
Im so sorry you lost your baby boy. SOmetimes this happens whether you are a novice, or the most experienced breeder. There are many times it is beyond your control.
This sounds like a beyond your control to me.
Im so happy your little girl is alive and doing so well and mommy is a good mommy.

How wonderful to read about your baby there, so glad Lucy is doing real well too. Jack and I both are looking forward to seeing pictures of her and Lucy, we was on pins and needles that night and said lots of prayers, you did a wonderful job in everything you did. You can be proud of yourself. Will think of a name that might be fitting but whatever you decide on will be perfect. I noticed you are in Calif. too, noth central or southern?

I am on the Monterey Peninsula, about 40 mins south of Santa Cruz on the Ca Coast. About 1-1.5 hrs south of San Jose. Where are you?
