My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Testical question??? Hi, my 6 month old Male Yorkie seems to have one testiccal down and the other kinda up high. Will he be able to reproduce? I bought him to breed. Is this called a non decending testical or something like this? |

| IF the second one doesn't drop he shouldn't be used for breeding. We waited for our boy, Jo, to drop his second one til he was almost a year old and he never did so we had him neutered. If the second one stays up there it can become cancerous, it's a health problem that shouldn't be passed on. |

| There is a good chance he is sterile. It is a genetic condition and, therefore, he should not be bred. He is more likely to develop testicular cancer so most recommend a neuter procedure to remove the testicles. Here's a link for you to read. The condition is called cryptorchism. http://www.2ndchance.info/cryptorchid.htm |

| Did your vet do an exam? can he feel the other testi? Your boy is still young I would wait another couple months to see if it will drop.

| Rocky has the same problem, and he's 7mo old. When he gets neutered he's going to to have it removed because it can cause cancer. |

Excellent Link! Thanks for sharing. I never knew it was so common. Kinda OT, but I guess dogs w/ one testical can be gay?!?!?! I tell my boyfriend I want a gay son because I love gay guys, and now I just informed him that theres a chance Rocky can be gay!! LOL. I'm just joking though, I really hope he doesnt get a sertoli cell tumor

| Hi. Does anyone have a picture of what this looks like? Are both testicals visible and one is just higher up than the other? Or is it more like only one is visible?....Any pics anyone? Just wondering so thanks!

On Rocky it's just simply one testical hanging. The other one is so far up in him, the vet couldn't feel it. I'm going to wait awhile before I neuter him (probably winter) to give it some more time to drop, or atleast lower a bit so his surgery isn't that complicated. Next time I have a camera I'll take a pic of it for you if you want.

| problem One testicule males have no problem reproducing..it only takes one...BUT why use him? All you are going to get is get more pups with problems..on and on...never buy a stud potential without all his parts. In fact if they are not there at 12 weeks, I think it is a big risk to buy. |

| Okay. Thanks, I think I pretty much got a visual of what it may look like then. I was under the impression you could only see one of them or that you can see both but one is drastically higher and one lower....Thanks

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I can feel both of Brodie's but one just seems higher and sometimes kind of disappears up? He was 6 months old on July 19th. Maybe then I don't have anything to worry about?????? I must say (and this may sound weird) but this is my first SMALL yorkie and boy, he has the smallest testicles I've ever seen! I guess I'm used to the larger dogs! I've contacted my breeder and she said her vet examines for testicles being down before she sells. I'm hoping I'm worrying for nothing? |
