| Puppy size??? I was wondering if any of the more experienced breeders might be able to tell me at about what rate pups grow at. My female had 4 pups on Sunday and they seem to be gaining weight quickly. Three of them weighed 4 oz's when born and they are all almost 8oz's today. That is almost an ounce a day. People keep asking me how big they are and unfortunetly I am not sure how to guess at this young of an age. If anyone has any opinions I would be grateful Thanks

| On average most of my yorkies puppies gain 4 ozs a week until 7 to 8 weeks, then they slow to 2 to 3 ozs. This is for my bigger ones who's moms were 8 to 9 lbs. The puppies from smaller moms gained 2 to 3 ozs weekly on average, then down to 1 oz weekly. I wanted to get an estimated adult weight at 5 weeks so I added the average ozs they were gaining to their 5 week weight and they weighed what I estimated at 8 weeks. I still have two little boys waiting to go to their home in a couple weeks and their adult weight average remains the same at 3 months now too. Will it be accurate?!!!.............Who knows!........ |

| Tell them the average weight of the parents. For example, my sire is 3.5lbs and my dam is 5lbs. So I tell people that the pups will be 3-5lbs when grown.
