| A question for all breeders I have a question that is for fun and I just want to see want response it gets. To those of you that have been breeding for a while, do you remember your first litter? What was it like, and where you nervous, excited, scared? How many puppies did you have in the first litter? Did everything go alright and was successful? How many litters have you raised since your first one? Just a few questions that I thought would be interesting for everyone to share.

| I sure do! I'll never forget my first ones. 4 of them, 2 boys and 2 girls. That was back before digital cameras were everywhere and I did not have one...so we took lots of film photos of them. I was able to scan a few of them once while visiting someone who had a scanner and I actually have them on my website..Liza and Rosy. I visited with Liza and her owner Joan a while back. I could not believe that was my baby. I remember so much about them. I remember how extremely terrified I was. I remember making my good friend leave her child who had a cold at home when she needed to run by my house for something. LOL! I also remember feeling like I had just lost 4 of my own children when they went to their new homes. I moped around for weeks. I'll never forget them. |

| litter I sure do remember it...not a worry, not a care or concern. Dogs have puppies thousands of time pers day, it is a natural thing. Sissy had two boys, no problems at all..she did everything... a textbook gestation and whelping, same thing happened the second time..then she was spayed....THEN I went to a dog show and people started suggesting I learn what I was doing...I started to read, meet and talk to other breeders...since that time I have had dozens of litters, helped others whelp theirs..sometimes it goes perfect and other times it does not.. 3rd time..I bought a nice bitch, my third litter was a MESS...c-section and dead pup. I had her spayed...Bought 4 girls, first litter was 4 healthy pups, her second litter, the uterus ruptured and I lost all the pups..then I had at least 12 litters with all good results...then one year I had 3 c-sections in a row...but I have had much more good luck then bad...the last couple years have been all free whelped and no problems..BUT I breed no more then twice a year. |

| I wasn't scared about the first litter as I was raised on a farm. What I was concerned about was the timing, not sure exactly when the big event would take place. Reggie would love to sit on my lap while I was on the computer. That day, her belly altered her balance so she just sat on the floor beside me. I was typing away and all of a sudden felt something warms on my foot. When I looked down, she had given birth to her first baby, right there. It was a little girl weighing 6.5 oz. I rushed her to the box and shortly thereafter, a 5 ounce boy appeared, and then a 6 ounce girl. I thought they were pretty big babies, but Reggie weighed 8 pounds and Tucker was 11 pounds. Our first born became known as Sassy, and her name sure fits her personality. She grew to 5.5 pounds. The boy was named Sampson. What a mistake that was, he just kept growing to fit his name, like his daddy, all the way to 10 pounds but looks like his mother. The last born was SugarPlum. She was so darn cute with an adorable round face. She ended up at 6.5 pounds, a good solid but really short body and pretty as can be. Sassy still lives with us. Both Sampson and SugarPlum, now named DeeO'Gee, live here in town and I get to see both of them every now and then.
