utah breeders Hi, I live in Utah and I am looking for any breeders that live in that state as well. I have a Biewer female that I will be breeding and I hope to get a male a.s.a.p. I am very new to breeding. I have been reading book upon book and I am in touch with some wonderful women who have helped me get this far. I need a mentor close by...someone that can "show me the ropes" with these little guys. Please, please get in touch with me if you live here in Utah and are a yorkie breeder. I would really appreciate all the help and advice I can get. Thanks so much, Shauna

Hi there, I am just starting to breed here in Utah. I posted in your thread in one of the other forums I think. I truly wish there was someone close by me as well. My female is due this week and I am a nervous wreck. My husband and my kids think I am crazy and that I worry to much but I guess I would rather be prepared for every outcome than just expect that everything will be perfect. Good luck in your new breeding venture. I love the Biewers, I actually have family in Germany and am planning to visit them this fall. If I can convince my husband, I would love to bring one home with me!! Melanie

Hi Melanie, Yes...I think you did post in my other thread. I just thought I would putone up here in breeder talk as well. You are not crazy to want to be ready for anything that could happen. That's how I feel as well and I think any breeder would tell us the same thing. I visited Germany about three years ago when my bro. in law lived there. Have you been there before? It is AMAZING. I loved it so much!! Do you speak the language? Please let me know how the whelping goes. I wish I could be there! Didn't you say you live up north? Where exactly are you? I wish you all the best and a very uneventful birth! Do you know how many pups you are expecting? If it's okay I'll PM you later today. I have too many questions for you! Shauna

Don't feel as though you need to have someone local. I have several mentors that help me over the phone. One helped me whelp my first litter while on the phone. I talk to them every week at least. Don't limit yourself. There are lots of breeders out there but you need to decide what kind of breeder you want to be. Make those phone calls interview your mentor to be. Once you find one or more that have the ethics you are looking for ask if they would mind being your mentor. You'll realize when you have the same ethics when it comes to breeding, you pretty much have an instant friendship too. I owe all my knowledge and success in my breeding program to my wonderful mentors, none of which live near me. Best wishes! Irene

Feel free to pm anytime. The vet said to expect at least 4, he is pretty sure there are 5. I just don't want anything to happen to Libbie, it makes me wonder if I am cut out for this. I guess I will find out soon. Irene, thanks for your response as well, I feel like I use this whole forum as a mentor and as wierd as it sounds, I feel like I know most of you since I am on here all the time for the last 2 years I just don't post very much. Maybe I will change that and try to be more outgoing Melanie

Thanks Irene...it helps me alot to hear that! Melanie...I am so excited for you. I know what you mean about wondering if you can do it or not. But, this is something that I have wanted to do for so long and I do believe that when the whelping time arrives I can handle it. There are all the unknowns, however and that is why I want someone there with me. But, hey, on the phone is good too! I'll take that over not having anyone. Plus, I have some really great books that I keep reviewing over and over and I feel they are so informative that they will help me through as well. Just like a doctor has to review books and things he has learned...I know I will need to do the same and that is okay. Thanks both of you for all your help...I really appreciate it!! Shauna
