YT Addict | Help...Ears I have two 8 week old pups. One has ears up beautifully the other I Taped and they got irritated so i have left it off. Her ears stood for a day then the tip started laying backwards. I trimmed and I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. Now they are flopping every which way. |

| I would leave them alone. If they are going to stand, they will. If not, no big deal. Unless, of course, you are planning to show the dog. Then, maybe someone else will give better advice. Both my girls' ears got VERY irritated with the taping, plus they bit each others' ears until they ripped the tape off. So, I gave up & let them be floppy. They are adorable, but I don't show them. |

| Hi , I had the same problem and used masking tape. I only used it for about 4 days and then replaced it after a day for 4 more days. Roscoe now has one ear up great and the other is up with a little dip. Seems to be fine in morning and as the day goes on dips some. The ears strength seems to fade like my energy through the day lol. I will keep the ears shaved and hope the dipped one will stay up more. Someone also told me to try Dr. Scholl's mole skin, I haven't though. Good luck!!

| If mom's ears and dad's ears are up. I would not worry. I have 2 10 week old babies now and the girls ears have been up fprever. Her brother's ears were down but up from the base. Today, we got up and there was one ear-straight up. So, the other will probably stand also. I will tape them when he is ready to leave but to do it now would be to subject him to his sister's rotte teasing..LOL You might have used too much tape and the skin was irritated. Maybe, scotch tape taped across both ears like a bridge would work. If not, don't make yourself nuts about it....Just wait and see what happens at 12 weeks or more.. |

| At what age can you start to tape the ears? I'm not sure if I want to do this with my pups, but just was wondering... |

| I am not sure if there is a set age but I did mine at 12 weeks. If I ever have puppies I will keep the ears shaved allot earlier. The extra weight on the ears makes a big difference. The masking tape I used lasted about three to four days and started to fall off. It didn't seem to be hard to get off and the dog didn't mind it at all. The second 4 days I did make a bridge connecting both ears. This seemed to help them stand up better. Someone also told me that around 6 months the cartilage in the ear stiffens so you would want to try to get them standing by then. Good Luck.

YT Addict | Mom and Dad's ears both stand up . I shaved her ears and she looks so funny. One ear is half up the other up but both are tipped backwards on the tip of her ears. I do hope they straighten out. She is still a cutie pie. I haven't even shaved her sisters ears and they stand perfect. Thanks everyone for all your input. |

| glad they came up for you. My new little girl had one ear up and the other flopped about half the time. I started to tape it then decided not to. two days later, Lo and Behold, it was up and hasn't gone down since. She looks like a teddy bear!!!!!!!! |

| Another thing to try is a brown paper bag. Cut out the shape of the ear & glue it on the inside of the ear(make sure that the ear canal is not covered) w/eyelash glue. Comes off w/ a little alcohol. |
