If I was truly terrified and afraid of the risk of death or complications for my bitch, I would wait until she is out of heat in a week, then spay her. Spaying a one week pregnant bitch adds litttle or nothing to the risk factor..you have to remember at that age they are only visable through a microscope. Good Luck to you.

I just want to thank everyone for their advice. I'm sorry for not responding to everyone but here's the scoop. I am a proud owner of two healthy and beautiful puppies, born April 9th. A c-section was suppose to be perform some time this week but she had it naturally and safely. Whew!!! What a relief! Despite Meko's tiny little size (3.5 lbs), she had both of them in about an hour without any struggle. Luckily Meko is fine because she had them earlier than expected, plus she was being babysitted by my brother and I wasn't able to experience part of the birth. I was amazed at the size of her puppies (approx: 3 inches each)which were bigger than I thought it would be. Is it too early to tell what size they would be? Anyways thanks again for everyone's help, I'll have pics up later.

I am glad that everything went ok! I cant wait to see pics of your new little ones!

I'm glad to hear that everything went well with the delivery of the two pups. Please keep us updated on their progress as they grow (including pics...hint, hint.) My only advice at this point would be to make sure you check their weights regularly to make sure they are gaining as they should be...they are so small that even slight variations in weight could be very dangerous, and would be undetectable just by looking at and handling them.

I got the impression that as longs as the male dog (3.2lb) is smaller than the female (3.7) then it was ok to breed. After reading a couple of blogs, I am terrified for my dog. Thank you once again for everyone's support and sorry for the late responses. The puppies are doing great and are so adorable. They are both 5 wks old. Coco the girl is 1 lb. 2.2 oz and Sumo the boy is 11 oz. Meko is doing just great. The pictures have been loaded in yorkietalk in the photo gallery.
