I want to add to the Breeder Love.

IF I WERE NEW TO BREEDING I would welcome ALL replies I've seen from the breeders here...good AND bad.

I really think much of the info posted sometimes gets taken the wrong way but at least the breeders are taking the TIME to answer - We all have different styles of posting / talking... and lately it seems people are very sensitive....

but when it comes to breeding yorkies - it's not something everyone should be doing... and I want to thank the breeders for taking the time to post and answer questions. It seems everyone lately is jumping on other members for their responses ....and when it comes to breeding I think people NEED to hear the good and the bad about this subject....It helps EDUCATE people.

I think the average new breeder really doesn't know how much is involved and even though some posts aren't sweet and light - they ARE eye opening....

I've learned so much from this section....a BIG THANK you to the Breeders who post here.

Villette,

Thank you for posting that. Breeding is a sensitive subject. Breeding really is a lot like parenting IMO. As a breeder love my furbabies like my son. I will admit if this were "Parent Talk" and someone asked questions about parenting, I would NOT tell them how to parent or that they are wrong for what they do, or they are doing it all wrong. I wouldn't question their parenting (abuse is a different story). It's just NOT right, it's not my place. If I was the parent being questioned, I'd be up in arms! How dare someone...

I realized breeding should be treated just the same. It's evident that all breeders that have been posting on YT lately clearly love their furbabies. Who am I to question them? It's really none of my business, what they do or why or what they should do. I need to remind myself not to condem or judge those that don't do what I do or know what I know, although it can be frustraing because some things I consider obvious, it's really not my place.

I am just sharing the light bulb that turned on into my head. Maybe some dont' agree with my comparison to parenting but it makes sense to me so I thought I'd share.

Bottom line is we all love our furbabies!!

That's a good point Irene....but I've noticed lately what one person may see as rude - another may see as enlightening.....I can't count how many times I've seen someone make a statement that makes SENSE yet they get jumped on ....I think it's all in the delivery of how we post...

but like I said...IF I came here to ask questions - I'd WANT and welcome all replies from breeders WITH Experience - both positive or negative... because we learn from them.

If everyone posted nothing but sweetness.. and didn't post about the 'touchy' aspects ...or only posted what they thought people want to hear - then how would these 'new to breeding' people ever learn all aspects of breeding ?

Breeding has it's upside and downside and I think it's important for people to know ALL that's involved in order for them to become a good breeder...and if that means sometimes a post may not be what they WANT to hear - it could be something they NEED to hear.

We are here to warn people looking for a new pup that possibly it is good to

believe everyting we hear and know that it is our job to decide who is right
and who is wrong if that is possible. We are here to teach so that all of us
can make the best possible decisions BUT ALWAYS IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER.

Villette and Irene:
I couldn't agree with you two more. I am very new to breeding on my own. I try to help people when I can if it is something I feel I know the answer to, but I don't feel like I ever present the attitude of "I know more than you" and so you should believe everything I say and ignore anything else you've been told. At least when it comes to BREEDING. (I am not the top-advice-giver here, I don't think, but I ask AGAIN, when have I EVER given someone "bad" advice here?) I am so thankful for the "veteran" breeders here as I like to call them. I have learned so much that I never knew I never knew, despite having worked one on one with breeders prior to coming here. It stinks to see the "newbies are being picked on" mentality around here...newbie meaning to the site and to breeding. I think it is hard to give others completely efficient information on something unless you've been at it to experience the same situation. Most of the time, these are things that I have not been around long enough to see, but others, like Sylvan, Kathy and others have. WHY would anyone new, myself or otherwise, be po'd for getting an honest, upfront answer with them. IMO, answers here should be respectful, but not sugar-coated. Afterall, there won't be anyone around to sugar-coat the loss of a pup, litter, or bitch when you didn't get the information you needed because too many were forced to carefully word or not respond at all for fear of "offending" or "hurting feelings." IMO, if you don't have thick enough skin to heed advice that may not be what you want to hear, I honestly don't see how you could last 2 seconds as a breeder. What you deal with there is far more real than anything you'll ever read or be told here. When you have a dying 3 pound bitch because you refused to even consider the advice of others tha have already been there, you can't log off and walk away.

Here's to BREEDER LOVE!!!!

I am so glad that there appears to be some good "reflection" taking place in this thread.

IMO it is not all of a sudden that people are sensitive.....it is not about being overly sensitive in fact. It is about being kind and open minded and knowing how to get a point across w/o appearing overly harsh. There are many here who are good at this.....there are some who are not. It is not about winning or who is on your side or who agrees with you or whether you have 10,000 posts or 5.

It's about being sensitive enough to others to post in a positive instead of a negative way. even if your opinion is different, or you have something t educate about.

I think there are now more members who are willing to finally speak up and call some members out who have always posted in a rather "rude, arrogant, knowitall, my way or the hiway, only my opinion counts" kind of way.

This is not about breeders either...it happens in all areas of the board and on a lot of controversial and even non controversial topics.

People are not standing for it any more and I, for one, am so glad. I think this board can be an even better forum than it already is if we all start remembering that EVERYONE's opinion counts, everyone has value, it is not nice to ridicule or unfairly judge and it is always better to say something nice than to make fun of someone or say something mean.

I don't think anyone needs to be called out nor do I think there are knowitalls here - there are too many people on this big site for ANYONE to think their opinion is the only one that counts - I just don't see it.

I do see things going off topic and when you have this many people things like that are bound to happen.

But since this is ABOUT BREEDERS and the questions asked and answers given - I think that this thread should stay on that topic
