i agree with everything you and Villette both have written. I am not a breeder yet either but I hope to be one day. Everytime, well almost everytime, I mention it, someone has to point out that I am inexperienced. It usually starts with the dreaded, "why do you want to breed". that is a baited question that I am way too smart to get drawn into altho it has gotten me on a few people's "ignore" list. especially when I explained that altho I am new to yorkie breeding, I have been my husband's 'right hand man' for close to thirty five years in his beagle breeding program. I can't even begin to count the Field Champions we have bred so I am not as inexperienced as people may think. Someone asked the other day why i wanted to breed and I told her "to pay off my credit cards". I am sure she thought that is what I would say so I had a little fun with it. I love to read the breeders forum. there are many wonderful, knowledgable breeders on here and i consider reading what they have to say as part of my research. It has become a "my dog is better than yours" thing at times but I really don't think it is meant to be. I think those people posing the questions or threads about their different breeds are only trying to challenge our minds with some very helpful info about certain things. I am sorry it has to be this way when it turns into heated debates. Sometimes I think the threads are "thought provking" and sometimes i just don't know. I, too, am a very outspoken person and sometimes get into trouble with my opinions but they are just that. Mine.

Thats what I meant also Jake. I do respect that everyone has opinions. Listening to them is a good way of learning something new. It's the 'pouncing' part I don't like also.

I certainly agree with this post:

First let me say if I am going to go to anyone for information about breeding any breed
it will be YorkieRose who has had over 30 yrs of ethical breeding and if she doesn't have
the answer will find it.

Also I found the Brewer thread very interesting but the SCREAMING to make a point
and the ego was a turn off from day one. If we keep it nice we can all learn.

OH my goodness, NO! Not at all!

I was thinking of some of my first post at YT where I felt judged & 'pounced' on by one or two. MOST people here are VERY nice and supportitive. I don't even remember who it was anymore, that really doesn't matter to me. But that encounter did leave me a bit leary about asking certain questions, ya know? Who likes to be 'pounced' on? LOL That was where my head was at when I posted. I'm so sorry that I didn't explain it better.

I almost didn't stay..But another Member Justus (thank you) ..
Told the other member to lighten up.. So, I have been here ever since.
I do the same for other new member too..who I see getting pounced on..It's just uncalled for IMO...

This says it all to me! I am not a breeder yet, but will be. I have lots of experience living on a ranch and use good common sense so I don't need people questioning my motives. There are too many times lately that I go to what certain people are writing and forget the rest of the thread. I want to learn from all of you but the bitching gets in the way. At that point I go to the training thread and learn, or participate there because that is where most of my experinece is..I really want better quality here from all you breeders. Debate is great, I learn from that, but there is a difference between debate and complaining, or questioning motives too far...
