I had a bad experience with Brushy Creek Kennels (a.k.a. classiccavaliers) last weekend. They delivered 2 very sick, black/tan, 8 week old, cavalier king charles spaniel puppies to me (heart murmur, head not completely formed, hernias and multiple infections). Dave tried to explain these issues away as either insignificant or issues the puppy would outgrow. One of the pups had to be taken to the vet hospital and was given a poor prognosis. I returned the puppies to Brushy Creek. This all took place in a span of 48 hours. You can imagine the trauma to my young children. (These were our first real pets).

Of course Brushy Creek wants to swap for new puppies instead of sending back the money. He even tried to get me to take the same puppies back! Dave claims he can find new puppies in Ireland (from his "sister") or his "brother" in Oklahoma or perhaps a local colleague. I put them on notice that I have no trust/confidence in their ability to produce healthy/well bred animals from any source. I also noticed the 2 puppies he sent to me were relisted on his website (brushycreekkennel.com) 2 days after I returned them (using the same photos I relied on when I made my decision to purchase). Obviously, I do not want anything more to do with Brushy Creek.

There are several references to actions pending by folks in this forum. I am open to joining forces to address the issues with Brushy Creek. Regardless, I will be pursuing action on my own.

I hope that anyone researching breeders can learn from my experience.

Today I contacted the Houston Chronicle and spoke to a representative there I informed them of the sham operations at Brushy creek, the houston chronicle is brushy creeks Big form of advertising. I saw in todays paper online that they had 7 diffrent breeds they were advertising some even read "family raised" which is a dam lie!!!! I told them they should not advertise for them and that they just ripoff and fraud puppies and registration papers. I also said they are a ripoff puppymill selling poor sick puppies covered in feces and very much emaciated, many, many people have fallen for this scam and several have NO MONEY some even hundreds and even thousands of dollars that Brushy Creek owes to everyone who has bought dogs from them. The Houston chronicle rep told me they would do all they could and that they would inform the Managers at the Chronicle as well as the head guys at the Chronicle. Hopefully they will STOP ADVERTISEING FOR THOSE CRIMINALS.

I have bought several westies from this breeder and I can tell you that everyone that I have bought have been very sick. My vet told me that they were the worst westies he has ever seen. I have been in his kennels I think I am one of the few that has. He still owes me papers on two females that I purchased from him 1 1/2 years ago, and he keeps telling me that he will get them to me. He is lucky I dont live closer to him are I would be at his door everyday until I got my papers. Anyone wanting to know more about what I know send me a pm

I as well as everyone that has been RIPPED OFF need to contact the Houston Chronicle Classifieds and have them stop advertiseing for BRUSHY CREEK KENNEL DAVID MOORE. I personally contacted the chronicle and filed a complaint, but the more people that call and complain the better chance they will stop advertising for them. That is one way to stop brushy creek, I still don't have my moneyback and its been since March!!! They keep offering me another puppy and I am not sure I want another one from them, THEY SELL VERY SICK PUPPIES.

I can't believe this is still happening and I'll write the Houston Chronical ASAP ! Anyone have a contact or should I just write the Classified department ? I think we need to contact Marvin Zindler too - he is great for exposing scams and going after people like this.

I called the Houston Chronicle, I don't know if I should write them as well, its a dam shame all those people STILL getting ripped off by those millers. I am going to write an email to Marvin Zinler maybe he can help put a stop to them, if enough people complain, maybe they'll take some kind of action, poor people out there I talked on the phone with a guy that bought 2 cavalier king charles spaniels and he is out of $3000.00 !!!!! both pups extremely sick... and now they don't want to give him his money back only another dog, who in their right mind would want another dog from them. I even called the attorney and he told me it was too late, there was already sooo many people in the trial that have been victims it was unreal!!
I HATE BRUSHY CREEK KENNEL!!!!!!!!!
WE NEED TO STOP THEM!!!!

good job! I've not had to deal with this kennel but those that have should write, call, e-mail the Houston Chronicle. The more the chronicle hears about stories like this, the more apt they are to do a news story!

I've just sat down and read the whole thread, which was a real scare. There are several people here that seem to know more about what's going on at Brushy's than the puppy mill itself. Most media outlets, as long they receive continual payment, will not stop an ad. Here's what I suggest.

Get a friend, and a digital camera. Teach them everything they need to know...all the right questions, etc. and do your own "investigative report." If you make a presentation after that - either to a lawyer or "real" reporter, then you give them a great start on materials. (I'd say go yourself, but obviously they know you too well).

Whether you're a fan of him or not, seriously, pull a Michael Moore. Show up with a camera and start shooting and asking questions. Wear a recording device in a shirt pocket (like a handheld tape recorder) or something like that. Try to catch them in the act. There seems to be a lot of documentation available on this kennel - if you can make a multi-media presentation (E-mails, phone recordings, personal meetings, pictures, video etc.) Then people will HAVE to listen. Bring it personally to news channels, newspapers, the attorney and anybody willing to listen. There's obviously plenty of people on YT that'll collaborate on this project.

With cameras in most cell phones and those super cheap $20 "spy" digicams...this would be really easy to do. Or you want to compare pups with other breeders etc. It's basically what a professional private investigator does anyways, and anybody that's read a majority of these posts will have more than enough information at their fingertips to go on the path themselves.

Well guys this is an update on those a**holes from brushy creek, I contacted david today and what a rude bastard, I had my lawyer get ahold of him and I guess they settled for $200 of the $470 he owes me! He told me he has sent out a check, but I have yet to seen it. He also lied to me over the phone and said he met me personally at the airport to meet with other puppies!!! and his words " I have bent over backwards with puppies, emailing you pictures and what not" what a dam lier, he NEVER met me anywhere, the pictures he sent where pictures of awful looking puppies, Dawn met me 2 days after I bought the puppy originally and had those poor filthy puppies to offer me in which I turned down for obvious reasons. David even hung up the phone on me!!!!!!
HE IS NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH THIS, IF ITS THE LAST DAM THING I DO, he knows I reported him to the BBB and alot of other places and he even cursed me out this morning over the phone. I told him how could he operate like that stealing peoples money and he only could say that he operates %100 DAM THIEVES, I will continue to nail him with everything I can!
