Add me to the list of suckers for Brushy Creek Kennel I had a bad experience with Brushy Creek Kennels (a.k.a. classiccavaliers) last weekend. They delivered 2 very sick, black/tan, 8 week old, cavalier king charles spaniel puppies to me (heart murmur, head not completely formed, hernias and multiple infections). Dave tried to explain these issues away as either insignificant or issues the puppy would outgrow. One of the pups had to be taken to the vet hospital and was given a poor prognosis. I returned the puppies to Brushy Creek. This all took place in a span of 48 hours. You can imagine the trauma to my young children. (These were our first real pets).
Of course Brushy Creek wants to swap for new puppies instead of sending back the money. He even tried to get me to take the same puppies back! Dave claims he can find new puppies in Ireland (from his "sister") or his "brother" in Oklahoma or perhaps a local colleague. I put them on notice that I have no trust/confidence in their ability to produce healthy/well bred animals from any source. I also noticed the 2 puppies he sent to me were relisted on his website (brushycreekkennel.com) 2 days after I returned them (using the same photos I relied on when I made my decision to purchase). Obviously, I do not want anything more to do with Brushy Creek.
There are several references to actions pending by folks in this forum. I am open to joining forces to address the issues with Brushy Creek. Regardless, I will be pursuing action on my own.
I hope that anyone researching breeders can learn from my experience. |
