| We have been very honest and very thoughtful. Keeping a dog in a crate at all times? Now I am confused. Are you just trying to raise the ire of the good people on this board? Or are you really a rotten SOB? Either way you are being blocked so I will never have to hear from you again.

| I wasn't going to reply, but this thread is getting kinda "wonky" and it doesn't appear that any breeders have posted. Since I did breed a few litters many years ago, I thought I'd take the plunge. Several years ago, I bred a few litters - I started off like many - I had a healthy AKC bitch that met the AKC standard in both size and color and bought a male that also met the standard. I was lucky, in that I never lost a mom or a pup. At that time there were many active AKC "show" breeders who very much looked down upon hobby breeders like myself. I was also lucky in that I was only ignorant and not stupid. You see, ignorance can be fixed through education, but stupid is forever and is terminal. Once I learned through the many wonderful breeders that used to frequent YT the REAL reason for breeding -- to better the breed -- I stopped breeding my pets, and had them spayed. Shelters are full of "pets" including yorkies because of irresponsible and uneducated breeders who just want to have pups. THE GOAL OF ALL BREEDING SHOULD BE TO BETTER THE BREED and to stay within breed standards. I was also lucky in that I had a neighbor who had contacts with some of the top Yorkie Breeders in the USA - Vicki Meadows and Anna Stringer became two of my mentors. I started over, doing things the right way this time. I started with one female, Lollie, (whose father, Jack, was the #1 yorkie in America the year she was born) - spent the time and big bucks to finish her conformation championship which was just the first step in proving her worth as a breeding animal. After health tests determined that she was in fact fit to breed, my Lollie was bred to a male who was also a champion. Lollie was bred twice, had 3 female pups and 3 male pups out of which 4 are champions and two are cherished pets. My second bitch, Lacie was out of the last litter of a male named Trip - one of the top champion producing Yorkies EVER. After finishing Lacie's championship, I chose to not breed her as my life had changed. All of that to make the following points. In order to be a responsible and ethical breeder you should first: 1) Educate yourself in regards to the entire process, from selecting appropriate breeding stock, testing, the actual breeding process, taking care of both gravid bitches and breeding males. You also need to be well educated on the birthing process and taking care of the pups. 2) You need a mentor to help you through #1 above. 3) Understand that the many hours spent, is a labor of love and you stand to lose your bitch and the pups and will very well wind up losing $$ in the process. If you have to ask about how to get your bitches pregnant, you simply are not ready to have a pregnant bitch. Below are two pics of my Lacie - she is a prime example of quality breeding stock. | Clarification.... Sometimes it is very easy to give folks the wrong impression when using the written word. I want to be perfectly clear so that there aren't any misunderstandings..... I love all yorkies - big, small, registered or not, meeting the AKC standard or not. The whole point behind my post was 100% entirely and completely about the suitability and selection for breeding. When I learned I was doing things the wrong way, I stopped, regathered and got myself on the right track so that I could breed Yorkies in a responsible manner. Then I came to understand, that even though my girls were "proven" to be suitable for breeding, it was still WRONG to product more pups to add to the dog over-population. |

| Thank you for your reply I’ll take that into consideration you have been very courteous where I’m from we don’t have a overpopulation of stray dogs it is very hard to adopt any because they are picked up quickly I believe if I start breeding myself I can help the market I believe there is a shortage of dogs especially Yorkies and they do fetch for a pretty penny I’ll start small with the two bitches and shoot for a litter a year and as I sell I’ll purchase a few more bitches to breed hopefully I’ll have more space then like a acreage where I’ll be able to open a much larger breeding facility producing 5-7 litters a year. |

Educate yourself about the entire process -- if you don't know how to get your females pregnant, you are NOT ready to start a breeding operation. Please be part of the solution and NOT part of the problem.

| Your not adopting your selling. When you build a building just for breeding Yorkies that is a puppy mill. The reason it’s hard to get Yorkies sometimes is because reputable breeders first off guard their lines and don’t want other people breeding them and you want to make sure the dog goes to a great home.

And if you haven't done your research, had your breeding stock evaluated and tested for suitability, then it is simply a way to make $$ off of this glorious breed. Either be part of the solution or part of the problem.

| Those breeders can make it hard for people to purchase Yorkies with their rules and high prices I would like to cut through that red tape and streamline so that if you got the money you can have your choice of yorkie the screening process for the other process is a deterrent to people plus they charge triple the amount for the same product |

| Like I said before here there is no problem with overpopulation of dogs they sell for a premium I’ve had a lot of interest in this and it does bring a healthy profit |

| You are not understanding or listening you don’t make lots of money being a reputable breeder. You are talking about being a bad breeder in fact a puppy mill. Whether there are lots of Yorkies in your area or not what you are going to be doing to the breed is disgusting and horrible! When there are terribly sick Yorkies all around Canada I will know it’s becaouse of you. You don’t care about Yorkies period.

| If a dog gets sick the owners need to take it to a vet it’s insane to blame the breeder I will only breed healthy dogs |
