YorkieTalk Newbie! | Chances for another tiny in the next litter Our female had 5. puppies first litter. 2 were very tiny. The male passed at 9 days old. The little female was 8.2 ounces at 6 weeks and at 12 weeks she was 8.8 ounces. She even fit inside a coffee cup. Then she had a tragic death. My question is. If we breed our female with the same male we did the first time what are the chances that she would have another or 2 little tiny ones again? Are they from bloodlines and genes or just by chance that have the tiny babies?

| It depends on why they were tiny. Possibly moms uterus has some areas that don't supply adequate nutrition through placenta. Doesnt sound like it, but If pups were born premature that probably would not be genetic. I would lean toward a genetic component and not repeat the paired breeding. If you own both then if it repeats a necropsy would be very beneficial. |

| I would not breed either again. Being tiny in itself can't kill a dog so I'm think you have issues in the lines and genes.
