| ![]() Well, we have 6 BEAUTIFUL babies!! Water broke at 6pm and the first one was born at 6:18. The next 2 came back to back at 6:45 and 6:50. At this point I was a little worried because none of the placentas came out. At 8:15 the next one was born with a wad of placentas right behind. She ate those before I could make sure there were 3 of them. An hour later at 9:13 we have our 5th bundle and I thought we were done...until I saw a knot in her side move. Sure enough at 10:08 we have another one! Male .5 oz Male .45 oz Female .4 oz Male .35 oz Male .35 oz Female .4 oz Everything went smooth even though 3 of the puppies were breech, one sucked in fluid before I could grab him and Momma kept trying to continue to chew on the umbilical cords, making them bleed. I got the fluid out of the one and applied slight pressure to the cords she chewed to stop the bleeding. All in all she had an easy delivery...breech puppies even came out smoothly and fast. Tired Gramma here, but very happy to have healthy babies. |

| ![]() Congratulations. I am glad all went well. What calcium supplement will you be giving her? Calcium will be very important since she has a large litter. I use Doc Roy's Healthy Bones from Revival.

| ![]() I feed all my dogs Science Diet dry dog food normally. My vet suggested mixing Science Diet puppy food with hers along with a cooked egg twice a day the last 2 weeks of her pregnancy and while nursing. I agree an additional supplement is a good idea and can never hurt. I have never heard of Doc Roy products? |

| ![]() Just noticed the whelping pudding mix recipe! I actually have most of these ingredients on hand. I think I will make a run to the store and pick up the rest. Wonderful recipe! I fed her egg mixed with boiled chicken breast meat, but will start her on this recipe as well as a calcium supplement. Thank you for all the wonderful thoughts, advice and prayers. Not much sleep last night for either momma or myself, but she is going to be a good little momma. |

| ![]() Doc Roy's Healthy Bones is a calcium supplement tablet sold at Pet Health Supplies | Pet Supplies | Revival Animal Health. I buy a lot of my pet supplies from them. Your vet might sell Pet-cal. I highly recommend getting something asap. Also from Revival I recommend having some Oral Cal Plus. It is very important to have some on hand just in case your girl gets eclampsia. Also to help prevent eclampsia it is important that your momma eats about 4 meals a day. I feed mine a dry puppy food that I soak in warm water and I add some canned food with it. Some mommas are very picky about eating after having pups. Sometimes the only way my spoiled girls will eat is if I sit there and hand feed them. Try to make sure your girl eats her last meal right before bedtime. Most cases of eclampsia occur in the morning after the pups have sucked on the momma all night. I usually feed mine around 9 at night. Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night to feed the momma again if she is nursing a lot of puppies.

| ![]() My little girl is definitely spoiled! She has been getting chicken breast and an egg every day since over a week before whelping along with a teaspoon of peanut butter (organic, which she LOVES) and Science Diet puppy food. I have now added the whelping pudding mix listed here and she LOVES that as well. I did order some Breeder's Edge Oxy Momma and Breeder's Edge Oral Cal Plus 30mL Calcium Supplement. Called my vet (at home...he loves that I am so protective..LOL) and he agreed these are good additions to her normal diet. She and new babies will be visiting with him Tuesday morning. Momma is doing well, bright eyed and being a good momma. Babies seem to be content and keeping warm cuddled up next to her. |
