| Picture Perfect Yorkies - Gayla Striplin??? I just wondered if anyone had ever had any dealing with this breeder. Her website is beautiful and her dogs look nice, she advertising champion sired puppies. Does she show? I couldn't find any record of her showing in AKC but didn't look farther. I did read 2 rip-off reports but I know those can be one sided and it looked like several years ago there was a thread on YT about her. I was thinking about a very cute champion sired male puppy she is advertising on Puppyfind but when I was researching her I came across this advertisement on an auction site - she is advertising 13 females & 2 males for sale - Dogs Direct if you scroll down past the Westies you will see champion pedigree dogs for $2000 and a champion male for $10,500. It makes me somewhat concerned to do business with any breeder who sells like this. Teresa |

No Longer a Member | Not sure...though 15 dogs for sale at once seems kind of shady, but at the same time maybe she has decided to get out of the breeding business and retire her pups. Maybe make an appointment to go out and see her home, and see how everything is set up? Though if you're already having reservations it's probably for a reason and maybe you shouldn't even waste your time investigating someone who gives you the heebie-jeebies before you even see what she is all about. $10,500 for a champ male...Sounds like a lot to me, but I'm not in the showing/breeding field so I can't really say. I have no idea how much it costs to produce a champ, I know a lot of blood/sweat/tears produce champs, but monetary wise, no clue. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | The website you linked to is a breeders auction site. This is where puppymillers unload dogs they no longer want to use or can't use for one reason or another. These auctions are the most vile, disgusting events I've ever witnessed. The very fact that she is using a dog breeders auction website to sell dogs speaks volumes to me as to what type of greeder she is. If you read her website she talks of teacups, and being a professional teacup breeder....lol.....didn't know there was such a thing as a professional teacup breeder...perhaps you get an on-line degree for that profession, I dunno?

| I wonder who she bought these champion line Yorkies from, because there is no way she bred and finished them...especially the male champion. I would never sleep again if I thought my little Yorkies were being auctioned off on a puppymill site... |

| I looked at the website, I wouldn't. Quotes from the site . . . "For more information about ordering a yorkie . . ." " . . . professional teacup yorkie breeder . . ." " . . . special delivery options . . ." "Yorkies are like potato chips . . ." (Ugh! Really?) "The owner of this pet breeding business . . ." " . . . work with a certified breeder." (Is there such a thing??) " . . . choose this company." I could go on and on, soo many red flags!

Interesting...I was asked today if a breeder had to get certified...I said no, but they probably should.

I did not know of any Breeder's Certification Board - (the long time experience breeders here might know of its existence/what it's about) - depending on what it's about, when I think about it, it might be a good idea...add some legitimacy to a breeder possibly (if it was like a state license/pass a test of knowledge, etc) I don't know.. Then big brother would have his hand in one more piece of the American pie, so maybe it wouldn't be worth the hoops one would have to jump through (and pay to jump through to boot). And there's always the possibility of driving breeders "underground" - can't regulate everything. Look at existing regulations of some cities (I believe my city says can't have three "breedable-age" dogs without declaring themselves a kennel - then have to pay city kennel license etc) - But no one checks to my knowledge, at least I've never heard of anyone getting nailed for having one over the dog limit...short of the occasional dog hoarder that has gotten nailed in the out lying counties.

| Selling via Dog Auction? Good grief! Too bad she is in yorkies I would rather she was making furniture or some inanimate commodity to run a business. No, trust me, I have bought quality show dogs and $10,000 is so way out of line. |

| This is Gayla and yes I do show my yorkies just haven't done any showing for awhile. I was considering selling out of my yorkies and focusing on a different career. I did not know that dogs direct was a bad place to advertise and I am sorry for advertising my stock there. I love my yorkies and just can't seem to sell them, I am just to picky where they go. They are part of my family and I only want the best for them. I don't go onto yorkie talk but a friend of mine told me to take a look at what folks were saying about me that is the only reason I am replying to this thread. I do have wonderful yorkie puppies for sale right now so please give me a call and we can discuss the champion sired males they are gorgeous! Again please forgive my ignorance about dogs direct I was under the impression this was a good place to sell my yorkies when I was wanting to sell out completely. Thanks for the advice! Gayla |

I didn't think there was such a thing, but did get me thinking about the pros & cons of such. With one of the cons...as you said, just because one gets a "certificate" doesn't mean they 'should have' lol

| I have a company that set up my website, I should contact them and tell them to take those words out that are alarming, I didn't even notice them until you said something, thanks for the advice once again. A career to me is what you put your heart and soul into and since I do that with my yorkies I call it my career not a hobby, I work to hard at it to be just a hobby. It is fun, but as you all know it is alot of work producing the best of the standard. |

Now that you have been informed that Dog Direct is an Auction, why are you dogs still listed there? Sheila | |
