I'm certainly no expert or qualified to answer really but if you or anyone else interested in considering starting breeding are interested, please read on. I tried breeding and lost a beautiful female beloved pet I adored with all my heart and 3 pups and had to handfeed the others 3 days old to weaning while grieving so hard for my dear Doberman, Cobra. She was dead. She was my best friend, my constant companion and she took care of me - watched out for me - slept with my husband and me and was our big darling and she was gone due to something I allowed to happen.

I now know breeding/whelping of dogs is something no one - no one on this earth - has any business trying unless they have years of experience, know genetics inside and out, are committed to fulfilling all of the steps listed here in the YT Library of how to become reputable breeders, have plenty of funds for many emergencies and have read, researched, studied and learned all you possibly could on the subject of breeding/pregnancy/whelping/infant raising for a good number of years and know what to do at home quickly in case of breeding-related emergency. You owe the dogs all of that before you consider breeding. They have a right to the best of the best. Unless you can meet on those qualities, you probably are far from able to handle this whelping or further breeding. And at 22 mos., isn't she too young to be into her second pregnancy? Get to an ER vet and get her checked out and let the experts take it from here. I'd have my baby spayed/aborted right now & not chance another Beagle-or-unknown-daddy whelping issue. Then I'd let this baby girl you love live a life of luxury and pampering that she has earned now. Believe me, I probably know exactly what you are thinking about now. I know you think it won't all go bad for you and your Mila - but is it worth even the chance that it might?

Please, you must get to an ER vet ASAP. Have this baby xrayed so you will be certain of two things in this out of control situation.....you will know how many pups she is carryiong, and you will be able to see if these babies will fit thru her pelvic ring. If these babies are very close to being too large, you need to have her sectioned, because if they are close to not being able to fit thru her pelvic ring, they will grow tooo much even in another 5 days....go ahead and have her sectioned.....ryou ALWAYS want a "controlled crash" over chaos and confusion and emergent situation. You have a stethascope??? Are you a nurse? If you are a nurse, you realize you must be on top of a situation....you have to have some controlover what you are about to face.....you can NOT wait and see what unfolds and then react to what has happened....you will loose any chance you may have of pulling this magic trick off successfully.....

I love that we have breeders on this forum to help in situations like this. THIS is why I love YT!

Do what Yorkiemom1, Dawn, and Gemy are saying, ok? They are pros at this.

Prayers for your lady as she goes thru this and prayers for YOU to get thru it, also.

I feel moved to go to step two for you here....while at the ER vet, explane to them you may have to tube feed these babies.....and you have NO supplies. Ask them if you can get/buy 2 butterfly needles.....you cut the needle part off so all you have that tiny clear tubing that was attached to the needle, with the hub that you can screw the tubing onto a syringe. You will also need for them to let you have 4 leur lock 3cc syringes, as well as 4 leur lock 5cc syringes (we dont know how large these babies will be, and you will need to give them 1cc/oz of body weight per feeding)......dont need needles, just the syringes and the clear tubing, which you will use to tube feed these babies if necessary. These are things you will not be able to get your hands on after you leave the vet office.....hopefully, you will be able to get these babies to nurse, but after a c-section, alot of mommas are not really interested in doing that, for 24-36 hours. You would always rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.....We can go over formulas, etc when we get to that stage....if you leave the er vet with puppies, then DH can go to the pet store and get what you will need next for your formula.

Count all the placentas! Let her eat at least one.

Get your whelping pudding recipe made up

Do you know how to tube feed?

Mom can eviscerate the pups if she chews the cords too short or pulls too hard...also can cause hernia....just deliver the baby, YOU tear the sac off the baby, suction nose and mouth out, rubbing the baby to get it cryting....take some dental floss and tie the cord off next to the pups body, then cut the cord about 1" long. DIP THE END OF THAT CORD IN MECUROCROME.....(I learned that at the last seminar I went to....not Betadine....cant remember why right now!) I only let my mom eat 2 placentas....they can get diarrhea eating more than that, and they get all the bonding hormones necessary with 2 placentas. After you get the sac off, the cord cut and dipped, and the babys nose and mouth sucked out, let momma clean the baby off...each baby is enveloped in fluids that also stimulate momma to bond with that baby, allowing her to recognize that as her baby....let HER clean the baby off.... You have to keep babies in a warm environment....her whelping box should be in an area with NO drafts, where the ambient temp is at least 88* -90*.....and you can put a heating pad UNDER the box the babies are in....you do not want them to nuzzle or worm their way to directly on top of the heating pad......so put it UNDER the box. Also, this is momma/baby time....you do not want to encourage socializing and visiting during this time....I isolate my new mommas....no visiting with other pets in the family....if stressed out, mommas will eat their young....we want her to be calm and happy and devoting all her time to her new babies....

Hope that boy is feeling better, soon, OP. And praying your Mila is going to make it through. Poor, sweet little girl hasn't had it so easy so far in her little life of only 22 mos. of pregnancies, whelpings, changing homes more than once and losing the loved former owners and the stress of that and wondering what is next for her in life, no doubt. I hope it's an easy, pampered life and resting her body. I am praying for that little girl and for you, your boy. And if you aren't spaying her, I'm praying for the puppies, though I sure wish she never had to go through all of that again.
