| I truly hope your girl has a safe whelp. And i also hope you can learn to take advice given with a more mature attitude even if it isnt the advice you want to hear. Sometimes, members are more concerned with the safety of these animals that depend on US for everything verses the FEELINGS of their humans. Be prepared in the future, if you ask for advice here, to recieve advice you may not like. But, you should not put down long time members, especially those with so much knowledge in breeding as thats what you came here for. That being said, there are some very good threads concerning whelping and supplies you should get. I would have a list of questions ready to ask your vet. Also, pre plan to have her xrayed at about day 58 (correct me if Im wrong on this one, Im tired). Hopefully you can also find someone who has experiance with whelping small breeds to assist you. I wish you the best of luck and hope all goes smoothly.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I've got my girl due about the same time as yours, I think. I am right there with her while she whelps, helping to bring the babies into the world by cutting the cords, making sure their noses & throats are clear, and then giving them to mom to finish cleaning them & nursing. Mom & pups stay in a 4 x 4 x-pen in our spare bedroom, first few weeks in a plastic under the bed storage-type box. No visits from onlookers (skin or fur) until the pups have had at least their first set of shots. Rather than blankets that the pups can get "lost" in, I lay a large bathroom rug in it with a heating pad on low placed underneath the rug on just one side of the box. That way Mom can move to the other side for a bit when/if she gets to warm. Mom gets 24/7 access to all the food she wants (and needs), and I also use the whelping pudding recipe(s) found in separate sticky thread in this breeders section.

| Hmm interesting. I can’t really see how you assumed that one LOL. I try not to assume ( you know what they say about it) Just some advice and you don’t have to take it, maybe next time you should ask the OP what you are feeling- or what you think you are reading.. Before you let it come out. I myself, I am going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, till they prove me wrong.. I have a whole new way of thinking this time around, I think you and me can be best friends- if you are up for it!! If you have some friendly advice for me I am all ears!!

If I'm reading this right, she is about 2 weeks along. This is about the time many experience morning sickness. She may get picky and may even throw up. This should pass. Try to keep her on her food. Maybe add some canned food to to make it more appetizing it if you're not doing so already. It's the last 3 weeks or so that the pups do most of their growing. That's when you need to up Mom's intake to about 1 1/2 to 2 times normal. I usually feed a little beef liver at this time. It's very nutrient dense and I feel it helps Mom from getting depleted. She is, after all, building puppies and that takes a LOT! The REAL pickiness usually comes after delivery.
