Wow, your fiance doesn't want you to travel alone? REALLY?! It's to FLORIDA, which is about 80 miles from the Bahamas A trip that could have been made any time to get her spayed, or to get your male neutered. They have low-cost spay/neuter clinics all the time here in Florida, a little research online could have told you that. Google is your friend! If you can't handle a trip like that to get help for your baby, what are you going to do when she's giving birth and gets a puppy stuck? What if she doesn't make it and you need to tube feed any surviving puppies?

I think that the experienced breeders that have responded "understand the situation" quite well. You asked what was the best thing you could do for your girl at this time and you were told the best option was to spay her. Regardless of geographical/monetary convenience, that IS the best thing to do for her from the sounds of it.
"Accidents" do happen, no one is arguing that. But you have to be prepared to handle them appropriately when they do.
Have you tried to find an experienced breeder near you that could offer you advice. Please try to understand that it is very difficult, if not impossible, for even the most seasoned breeder to coach you through this via web forum. What you need is someone experienced there with you who can help you assess and handle the situation first hand.

She came here for advice, from the best, so if you can't do that and help out a fellow Yorkie lover then don't post at all. I'm in the same position and am looking for good advice and not scare tactics and snobbery.

A real quick FYI: We just had a situation here on this forum, where the poster "instructed" members here to either give helpful advise or dont post at all. An Administrator pointed out this is an OPEN FORUM and no one can tell who to post or what to post. If the posts become NASTY, or insulting, name calling, etc, then Administrators will jump in and handle it....otherwise, again, this is an open forum, open for discussion and debate, and no one dictates what can be posted or by whom. (This is an old thread.....)

The OP never came back to update did she?? I really hope she either took the wonderful advice given, and had her spayed...or somehow mom and pups made it ok.
This really makes me wonder why ppl ask for advice, then dont bother to update. Sigh...praying that all went well.
I have both male and female as well...in order to avoid *accidents* both were spayed/neutered. It was through this forum that I learned breeding was NOT one of the best ideas. Personally I will leave breeding to those that have put in the time and effort, so to speak, to do what is best for the breed.
Breeding is not something to be taken lightly...there are breeders on here that have been diligent in all their duties, required in the care of this special breed for over 30 years. I for one would be taking the advice given to heart, in seeking an emergency spay. Two choices...emergency spay or the life of your baby and pups.

Thanks Vicki. Clearly she didn't take the advice given, but it appears mom and babies came through ok. Hopefully she will now have momma spayed.

She wanted advice and received it. Sometimes the advice people are given is not what they want to hear. Members here are very supportive--but most aren't going to support someone putting their dog in harm's way when it's completely avoidable or if there is a better option.
If you are in need of advice from genuinely caring people and experienced, breeders with years and years of knowledge, then YT is certainly the right place for you. Otherwise, soliciting responses on ANY public site on the net is probably not the best option. As someone already mentioned, dictating how and what others post is not realistic.
