| Traditional Yorkie with milk chin/white on chest still Hello. I have a female yorkie that is almost 2 1/2 yr old. She has had these markings since birth but i was half expecting her to loose them since both her parents are traditional and so is she. So now my ? is... is it possible for her to be a carrier of the parti gene if shes from 2 traditional parents? She is now pregnant with her first litter with another traditional yorkie. We are very excited about this litter, but i was wondering...if it was a possibility at all.. and if so, do you know how much the test is to truely find out? Thankyou so much! Paisley Grace's mama.... |

| If you breed a Parti-color carrier to Parti-color carrier, you will have one Parti-color and two Parti-color carriers and one traditional color that does not carry the Parti-color gene. (25% Parti, 50% Carrier, but you won't know who the carrier is.) |

| Paisley Parti? oh ok, so.. since i bred her to a non parti carrier then i really wont know anything... Her next breeding is already set up for next year later and it's to a BEAUTIFUL full parti boy. So if she is in fact a carrier then i'm looking at like a 50:50 split?? (parti's and Parti carriers?) I've just herd both.. that NO, she cant be a parti carrier if she comes from two traditional yorkies, but then i've also heard that she can be a throw back possibily?? i donno..lol. I love the parti's and i'd LOVE to get into them, i just think it'd be funny if i already had a head start with her and didn't even realize it! thankyou so much for your info! Gina |

| You would benefit from researching about the "Mendel Pea Experiment" on genetic and inherited traits, recessive genes and all of that . There is some information online. See the graphics and try to understand what the whole experiment brought as far as understanding very basics of inherited genetic traits. Good luck with your litter. XOXO

If she is standard and bred to a standard all pups will be standard. If she is a standard and you breed her to a full parti male then all pups will be carriers. If she is a carrier bred to a full parti some will be full parti's, others will be carriers. Carrier to carrier (or) carrier to standard. Some pups will carry and some will be standards. The only way to know which pups do or don't carry the gene it to do the coat color test. As some pups born without any white can still carry the gene. This is my girl born without any white marking to a carrier mom and a standard dad. I had the test ran on her and she is a carrier. | |

Yorkie Yakker | doea my female carrieer this gene Hi I was reading this thread it was interesting my female just had a litter two weeks ago and two of the females both had whit markings on their chest we lost one but the other female is doing wonderful. The two males out of the litter have no white marking ? The parents are black and tan and sliver . So this could mean she cqould be a carrieer parties gene? I will upload some photos to my page .do I take her to vet to have test done? |

You posted if she is a carrier bred to a full parti some will be full parti's and others carriers. Now I am confused. I know someone who bred a carrier to a full parti and had a litter of 5 pups. 4 were full parti's and only one was a carrier.(standard color but white on chest and on paws.
